Two PED stories in one day? Lance Armstrong must be jealous.
We've covered football and now onto Baseball and PED's once more. The Miami New Times has obtained a list of names from an anti-aging clinic in Miami of people who have received PED's from them. On the list are players like Gio Gonzalez of the Nationals, Nelson Cruz of the Rangers, and Melky Cabrera of the Blue Jays. Also on that list is Alex Rodriguez of the Yankees who has already been linked to steroids in the past.
Alex is already denying his involvement in this story. Meanwhile, reports are saying the New York Yankees are going to be exploring avenues to try and void A-Rod's contract which still has $114 million left on it over five years. Whether they can get out from under the contract or not due to PED's remains to be seen but it would certainly be a first.
This seems worse than last time with drugs and A-Rod. He's apologized and tried to move on and now there are reports saying that he's back to old ways. What adds insult to injury is the fact that he has stunk the last couple of years and that the drugs aren't helping if he has indeed taking some more.
If I was part of the Yankees, I would want to get out of this deal and figure out any way to do so. If I was a fan of the Yankees (which would take a "Bullet to the Head"), I would boo A-Rod wherever he was and wouldn't stop until he was gone from the game completely. He has just been bad news for the organization.

Youkilis to the Yankees? NOOOOO!!!!
When the Red Sox traded Kevin Youkilis away this last year, it was part of the bad dream that was the 2012 season for the Nation. The news coming out today makes that ordeal around Youkilis a nightmare.
Less than a year after being traded away to the White Sox, Kevin Youkilis agrees to join the New York Yankees (AKA the Original Evil Empire). The contract seems to be a one year deal worth $12 million. The motive behind the Youkilis signing is the fact that Alex Rodriguez (3rd baseman) is expected to miss part of the season due to a 2nd hip surgery. Youkilis had a off year in 2012 partially batting .235 with 19 home runs, 60 RBI's, and a on base percentage of .336.
It's very sad that another former Red Sox great is now a member of the New York Yankees. It seemed bad enough with Johnny Damon leaving for NYC after 2005. The difference here, however, is that it was ultimately Johnny's decision to leave the Red Sox for the Yankees rather than the team trading him away. While Youkilis ultimately chose to play for the Yankees, it was the Red Sox who parted ways with Kevin.
P.S. When the Yanks come to Boston, will the chants be "Yoouuuk" or "Booooo"? Seeing as he has already played in Fenway after the trade, it will be hard to tell. As for me, he might be the one Yankee I won't curse in 2013.

Anyone Want Overpriced Talent?
The Yankees were so awful during this postseason but one guy stood out and that was Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod had a drop during the regular season batting .272 with 18 home runs and 57 RBI's in 122 games. He was worse in the postseason. He went 3-25 with no HR's or RBI's, 2 BB, and struckout 12 times. Now Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano seemed to be just as bad or even worse but A-Rod has always been the lightning rod for the Yankees because of his past and how much he gets paid.
Now with the season over for the Yankees (heck, even the game before the season was over) speculation has risen that A-Rod will not be on the Yankees next season and that he will be traded. A-Rod, however, is a very expensive player with five years and $114 million remaining on his contract. If he is traded to some other team, the Yankees will have to eat most of the money remaining to make him appealing and A-Rod would have to approve the destination. Miami is right now the rumored destination to be despite the denial of Yankees GM Brian Cashman saying he hasn't had any trade talks with anyone about A-Rod. Alex says he wants to be a Yankee next year.
So the question is simple: Will Alex Rodriguez be on another team next season? It seems like he will end up somewhere else. There is not much more benefit for A-Rod staying in New York with the media hounding him all the time. He will want to move on from that spot and find a place with less pressure. As for finding him a team, if the Yankees are willing to eat enough money then some franchise will negotiate for A-Rod. I could see a team with a good pitching staff looking to make a postseason run with an average lineup getting him. It could be other teams looking for someone to draw in the crowds but that doesn't seem like the stronger selling point.
Whether he stays with the Yanks or goes somewhere else, Alex Rodriguez is going somewhere he wants to go now: away from the attention.
P.S. I'd stay away from the Super Bowl, hot celebs, and popcorn while you're at it. Maybe just watch it at home... with the curtains closed.

Tigers Sweep Away the Yankees in ALCS
While the NLCS is not going the way I would've hoped, the ALCS ended just the way I wanted it to: with the Yankees not winning it.
The New York Yankees haven't been themselves in this postseason and this ALCS for that matter. Their hitting has been atrocious. Actually, they would need a ladder the size of a New York skyscraper to get to atrocious.
Anyway, the Tigers were killing the Yankees with pitching and had a 3-0 lead in the series heading into yesterday. They were trying to avoid the sweep going against Matt Scherzer of the Tigers. Scherzer pitched an good 5 innings until he had trouble in the 6th and let the bullpen take care of it. By then, it was 6-1 with runners on the corners for the Yankees. Alex Rodriguez came in as a PH for Raul Ibanez in the DH spot and flied out to center to retire the side.
After that, no more hits for the Yankees this postseason. They managed to get one walk the next inning which did nothing while the Tigers tacked on 2 more runs in the 7th and 8th. Phil Coke came in for the last two innings of the game and finished off the New York Yankees no problem. Tigers win 8-1 and take the series in a 4 game sweep.
And so ended the worst postseason hitting performance in MLB history (at least 7 games played). Seems ironic it happened to the Yankees.
The Yankees batted a horrible .188 batting average this Postseason. Their hitting was so bad that NL pitchers felt sorry for them. Every player on the Yankees couldn't swing the bat and A-Rod was just one of them. The home run clobbering Yankees had their bats fall silent with much better Postseason pitching making less mistakes for the hitters to capitalize on. That means less chances to score runs as the Yankees relied on the Home Run ball. The Yankees definitely have some work to do in the off-season.
Meanwhile, congrats to Detroit Tigers on winning the American League Pennant. Despite what the team had to go through during the regular season, they are still on track with what's expected of them.
P.S. When you ask a front office guy of the New York Yankees if they ever considered getting some small ball talent, the reply is always the same: "What is Small Ball?"
