The NFL Draft continued today with some big names being removed from the board.
Manti Te'o was finally drafted. The Notre Dame linebacker went 38th overall to the San Diego Chargers. A nice spot for Te'o as he now gets to face Peyton Manning twice a year. Good luck figuring him out.
As for quarterback Geno Smith, he was picked right after Manti Te'o as the 39th pick by the New York Jets. It looks like the Mark Sanchez era in New York might thankfully be over. Some sources are telling ESPN that the Jets are considering releasing Mark Sanchez. Please do it now.
The first running back taken was Giovani Bernard from UNC. He was taken 37th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. RB Eddie Lacy of Alabama would be taken 61st overall by the Green Bay Packers.
There were quite a few defensive backs taken with Tyrann Mathieu, CB from LSU that was dismissed from the team before the year began for violating the team rules, being the most notable name there. Mathieu was picked up in the 3rd round by the Arizona Cardinals as the 69th overall pick.
As for my San Francisco 49ers, they made three selections during the day. In the 2nd round, they selected DE Cornellius Carradine of Florida State and TE Vance McDonald of Rice. In the 3rd round they picked up another defensive end, Corey Lemonier of Auburn. I like the selections as they attempt to strengthen that defensive front along with trying to replace Delanie Walker at the tight end position.
Day three of the Draft is tomorrow starting around noon eastern.

Vick to Stay with Eagles Under a One-year Deal
A new coach doesn't mean new quarterback in Philly.
Michael Vick had signed a 6 year $100 million contract back in 2011. Things just went downhill from there on out for him and the Eagles. They failed to make the playoffs two years in a row and fell under .500 in 2012 going 4-12. Andy Reid got axed and outsiders assumed that Vick would be next on the chopping block. However, new Eagles coach Chip Kelly and the team seem to think that keeping him would be the best option. They then restructured Vick's contract to be a simple 1 year deal worth as much as $10 million to which Vick agreed to. For now, it's Michael Vick at the head of Kelly's experimental offense.
Seeing how unimpressive Nick Foles was combined with a lack of quarterback talent in the draft and free agency, it was probably best for the Eagles to keep Michael Vick for the time being. You never know how a new coach could affect a veteran quarterback's play (i.e. Jim Harbaugh and Alex Smith). At the very least you need someone competent at quarterback for this season while you keep your options open (i.e. Jim Harbaugh and Alex Smith).
As for Vick, it was probably best he stay as well. The Eagles seem to have a lot of talent just mixed in with the wrong mindset(s) and wrong schemes. That could change under a new coach like Kelly. Also, it's not like there are a bunch of other playoff worthy teams that Vick could start for right now. Not the Jets. Besides, I said "playoff worthy teams."

Revis Island For Sale?
Darrelle Revis is perhaps the most valuable defensive back in league. So much so that the New York Jets entire defense basically hinges on that one cornerback. Anyone want him?
A source says that the Jets are open to trading Darrelle Revis. Possible reasons for the trade? It could be related to the many contract disputes between the team and Revis during their time together. It could be due to the fact that his contract expires after next season and he can't be franchise tagged due to a clause. It could be salary cap issues. Heck, it could be injury concerns and whether or not paying someone with a question mark in health is a wise move. The six year veteran corner played in just 2 games in 2012 due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
A #1 receiver's worst nightmare is available. What team wouldn't want this shut down corner on their team? It just seems shocking that the team would actually be willing to trade him. Rex Ryan talks about him like it's his jersey his tattoo wife is wearing. The new GM John Idzik and Owner Woody Johnson obviously don't mind taking the team in a new direction. Not with the quarterback just yet but with their defense.
