The list of noteworthy free agents left in the NFL is getting smaller and perhaps the most intriguing one has been crossed off the list. He's not the most sought after and not the biggest name but when you shoot yourself in a nightclub on accident with a unregistered gun you get the title of most intriguing. Plaxico Burress has found his second chance and he doesn't even have to move. There was speculation that he would actually end up with his old team, the New York Giants, after having a few discussions. Plaxico did end up with the same coin, so to speak, just the other side of it. The New York Jets have signed Plaxico Burress to a one year $3 Million contract. Burress stays in the Big Apple while still playing in New Jersey.
I must say this is a good move for the Jets. Not a lot of risk with $3 million and if Plaxico still has it, he and Santonio Holmes will make a solid duo for Mark Sanchez to throw to. Not sure if he will be better than Braylon Edwards but definitely a better bargain and worth a shot. What's even more interesting is that he chose the Jets over his old previous teams of the Giants and Steelers. Maybe he really wants a fresh start.
P.S. Or maybe he wants some love, Eli Manning.
