With Peyton Manning going to Denver, this means bad things for San Francisco. I thought the 49ers were going to do the "loyal" move and stick with Alex Smith and not pursue Manning. Instead, they looked at the greener grass and said they wanted that while letting their old grass rot. While pursuing Manning, Alex Smith must've gotten mad by it and it now looks like he is trying to move on. He went to talk to the Dolphins for a bit over the weekend. Manning, meanwhile, didn't go to the 49ers, he went to the Broncos. Now the 49ers are left with no QB to turn to presuming that Alex Smith doesn't want to hear our apologies.
WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO NOW!!! We went to the NFC Title game last year and were two costly mistakes from going to the Super Bowl. Now it seems like we won't get anywhere near there this upcoming season. Alex Smith is not close to Peyton Manning but his clutch performance against the Saints were the reason we got to play in the NFC Title game. He deserves to come back but now it seems likely he won't. Now we might have to turn to our drafted QB from last year's draft: Colin Kaepernick. I hesitate with him, though, because I don't know if this kid is ready to take the reins of a team that got that close to a Super Bowl.
If I'm in the front office of the 49ers, I'm going to Alex Smith, getting on my hands and knees, and begging him to come back. Otherwise, our immediate future is bleak.
