The Heisman Trophy presenation and the "Finalists" came into New York City and waited anxiously for Cam Newton's name to be called. Let's face it. The other finalists were just there for show. Why they even went, probably for the free trip to NYC. Cam Newton won the award as expected receiving a total 729 first place votes and 2,263 points total. The 2nd most 1st place votes went to Andrew Luck with 78 who also was second in points with 1,079. Newton had almost a combined 4,000 yards and 49 total TDs. His quick legs and great arm made him the most valuable player beyond any doubt.
Yet, there is doubt on whether Cam Newton was a legitmate winner. Newton and his family have been under investiagtion for possibly accepting money or asking for money. This controversy has caused that Cecil Newton not even show up at the Heisman ceremony not wanting to draw any attention away from it. There is a thought that now Newton has won the Heisman that he would have to possibly give it back because of these allegations. Reggie Bush was caught in this turmoil and eventually chose to give back his Heisman Trophy. Who knows if this kind of press will stick to Cam Newton.
But for now, congratulations Cam Newton. You are Mr. Heisman of 2010.
