Week 13: Bengals Fall for an Obvious Ploy, Manning Getting Sloppy, Pats Destroy the Jets and More

Week 13 comes and goes with some disappointing performances. Maybe number 1 on that list is the Cincinnati Bengals defense. Down by 3 with less than a minute to go, Drew Brees decides to line up for a 4th down play to simply try and draw the defense offsides considering they well in field goal range. Brees put up a good enough act as Pat Sims bought it and was caught offsides. What does Brees do on the next play? He throws a TD pass to Marques Colston to win the game, 34-30. More frustration to add to the Bengals season as they are 2-10 while the Saints are now 9-3.

Another bad performance included Peyton Manning throwing for 4 INTs for a second week in a row. This totals 15 for the season as the Colts lose again, 38-35 to the Cowboys. Manning must be tired pulling the Colts along by himself. Maybe the biggest disappointment was the Jets on Monday Night as they simply collapsed to the Patriots, 45-3. Tom Brady threw for 326 Yards and 4 TDs against that Jets Defense. All Sanchez did was throw 3 INTs in this game to forget. Pats now take control of the AFC East with a 1 game lead over the Jets.

As for the other games, the Eagles beat the Texans on Thursday Night, 34-24. Michael Vick threw for 2 TDs and 1 INT while running for 1 TD in the win. The Giants would blowout the Redskins, 31-7. The Giants running game totaled 200 yards for Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs as each man got 2 rushing TDs. The Bucs lose another to the Falcons, 28-24. The Bucs had the lead by 10 points in the 4th but those Falcons got a break with a Kick Off return for a TD by Eric Weems and a Matt Ryan TD pass later on. Bucs are good but always behind the Falcons. St. Louis would beat the Cardinals, 19-6, while the Seahawks would beat the Panthers, 31-14. Rams and Seahawks remain tied for the NFC West at 6-6.

Pats look like the top team in the AFC for now with their win over the Jets but the Steelers look like the toughest what with Big Ben still getting a win over Baltimore with a broken nose, 13-10. It's supposed to be smashmouth football not smashnose.
