Knicks Get Swept While Sixers Avoid Sweep and More

The New York Knicks were looking for some positive signs in this years playoffs that said they were moving in the right direction. Surely the Knicks would not win it all but they would surely put up a fight. They did in both games against the Celtics in Boston. But when they got back to the New York, they just seem to lose focus. The Knicks would get beaten again tonight, 101-89, and get swept by the Celtics. Overall, the acquisition of Carmelo Anthony doesn't help the team this year. True, they do get back to the playoffs but fail to win just one game there. They haven't won a postseason game in ten years and counting.

The Sixers did not want to go out without a fight, however, and were able to avoid a sweep by the Heat by winning game 4, 86-82. Despite 31 points by LeBron James, the Sixers manage to survive. They now head back to Miami down 3-1 to try and stave off elimination for one more game.

The other two games were pretty good as well. Joe Johnson manages to make 4 free throws that give the Hawks the win over the Magic, 88-85. Johnson actually made the team's last 10 points. Way to be clutch. The Hawks now have a 3-1 series lead over the Magic. Dwight Howard doing everything is just not working for Orlando.

The last featured game 4 between the Lakers and the Hornets. The Hornets knew they couldn't go back to LA down 3-1 and needed a win. Chris Paul was clutch in the 4th scoring 14 of his 24 points then. Jarret Jack would make the shot that put the Lakers away with 9.3 seconds left. Hornets would win, 93-88. This series is now even 2-2 going back to LA.

Nice day of Basketball as the Knicks are the first team eliminated from the playoffs and the Hornets make things interesting for the Lakers. Big Picture is that the Celtics advance to the next round and get some time to rest at the old folks home.
