New Managers for Cubs and Braves

While the baseball season has not ended yet, there are some preparing for the next season. The Braves have already named Fredi Gonzalez as their new manager earlier this month. He used to be the Braves third base coach for a number of years but more recently has been manager of the Florida Marlins. He was fired from that job, however, back in June. As for the Cubs, they have hired a new manager as well. Mike Quade has been named the permanent manager of the team. He was the interim manager when Lou Piniella retired and had a 24-13 record leading the team. The Cubs must have been impressed with the team's output and his past dedication as the Manager of their minor league affiliate, the Iowa Cubs, and then as the third base coach for the them.

So much for Ryne Sandberg taking over or the speculation that Joe Girardi might come home to Chicago after this season. Joe probably wouldn't have left anyway. Good luck to Fredi and Mike as they take over for a couple of Hall of Fame managers.
