What a surprise? Another scandal hits the college football world. It can't be. (HA HA HA)
Bobby Petrino is the next guy to come on down to the scandal seat in College Football. This, however, did not revolve around a recruiting scandal but was more of a moral issue. Petrino, who is 51, was apparently having an affair with a 25 year old woman named Jessica Dorrell. He had apparently given her money as well and even recently a job with the football program. This seemingly all came to light when the two were in a motorcycle accident and Petrino claimed that he was alone and tried to sweep the whole thing under the rug. Arkansas looked into it and decided to fire Bobby Petrino as a result.
I usually say that moral issues and indiscretions should not be held against someone in a professional setting. There is no doubt that they do to some degree. But this situation is different. Petrino involved the university by having an affair with an ex-student who used be on the volleyball team and worked for the Razorbacks Foundation before she was hired by Petrino as part of the football program beating out 159 other applicants. This is taking a personal moral dilemma and making it a professional scandal. To modify a classic, he's dipping his pen in the university's ink.
Arkansas' recent success might be over as soon as it began because of this scandal. It's what you get when you hire Bobby Petrino.
P.S. Usually the success goes away when he sees a better offer in the horizon but you knew what I meant.
