Group D's final games were yesterday featuring Germany vs. Ghana and Australia vs. Serbia. Germany needed a win to get the Group lead and managed to do so thanks to a great outside shot by Mesut Oezil in the 60' to give them a 1-0 victory. Serbia, meanwhile, needed a win to advance to the next round but Australia spoiled their party. Tim Cahill and Brett Holman scored two goals for Australia to get them a 2-1 win. Neither of these would qualify for the Round of 16, however, as Serbia didn't have enough points and Australia was behind Ghana in the goal differential department.
The next round is set for the Group C and D winners. The USA will face Ghana and England will play against Germany. The US will be looking for some revenge as it was Ghana that eliminated them from the 2006 World Cup. Germany looks to be the favorite over England considering England's only win came against Slovenia. Which European Powerhouse will choke? And can the US make it to the Quarter Finals?
P.S. Then again, Germany did lose to Serbia. Ah, who sucks the most?
