Group F: Paraguay Atop the Group and Italy Out?

Group F played their last games today with Italy and Paraguay looking to be the favorites to advance. Paraguay would face New Zealand and would draw in a scoreless game. In the end, Paraguay didn't need a goal as they clinched a spot and ended up as the top seed in the group. Italy, meanwhile, faced Slovakia who had upset on their minds. Slovakia's Robert Vittek would score off a bad pass from Italy and later score a 2nd goal in the 2nd half. Italy would try to mount a comeback with a goal in the 81' but Slovakia would score again with Kamil Kopunek breaking through and then making an amazing shot over the goalie. Slovakia would win 3-2.

The Defending World Cup Champs have been eliminated as Slovakia has stolen their spot in the next round. Good for Slovakia. The final two teams of the 2006 World Cup are going home after just the group stage. Somebody get the Heimlich maneuver over to France and Italy because they've choked. OH!!! Paraguay and Slovakia move on from the Group Stage.
