After 22 seasons in baseball, Ken Griffey Jr. has retired from the game. He was known mainly as a Seattle Mariner becoming a hitting sensation threw the 1990's. He was a threat at the plate with that perfect swing of his and a threat in the outfield with his speed and great grabs. He would join the Cincinnati Reds in 2000 and stay there until 2008 when he was traded to the White Sox. He would come back to the Mariners for 2009 and a bit of 2010. Griffey though would lack the effectiveness that he once had and figured to call it quits. He finishes his career with 630 Home Runs (5th all time), 2781 hits, 1836 RBI's, and a career .284 batting average.
Like every career, there are regrets that Griffey had. He never got to play in a World Series. The closest he got was when the Mariners played the Indians in the 1995 ALCS where the Indians won the series 4-2. The other great regret was Cincinnati and the all the injuries. While it was not Cincinnati's fault at all and Griffey wanted to go because it was his home for many years, injuries would destroy his career and any shot at the All Time Home Run record. Griffey would still end up one of the best sluggers ever finishing 5th on the All Time Home Run list with 630. In my opinion, he was the best the player of the 1990's and possibly of the Steroid Era as there has never been any indication that Griffey was juicing. He was truly a legend of his time and one of the best players ever.
