California Wins LLWS of 2011. How Much Did You Make?

First of all, congrats to Huntington Beach, California for winning the Little League World Series over Japan, 2-1. It's probably the best moment of your young lives. Second, why does this thing get coverage? It's just a bunch of kids playing baseball. If I want to watch that, I get "The Sandlot" out. Third, it's bad enough that College Athletes get exploited for their talents left on the field but now it's literally kids? I agree that we shouldn't pay the players but there are other things we can do for them. FREE PIZZA FOR EVERYONE!!! Okay, maybe not that.

Now that I do think about it, why not pay the players a little something? Hollywood pays child actors and ruins their lives all the time. It's not like a few bucks to some random kids from Montana is going to hurt anybody. True, the kids are there to have fun (and get ripped off while they do so) but that's no reason not to share some of the pie. People enjoy their careers all the time and get paid for it. Why shouldn't these prepubescent little brats get their's?

I'll admit it, I don't know all the financial details of the event or the agreements with all the teams involved. I certainly hope that money goes to local baseball teams across the country. But you're still exploiting the kids to make a solid profit.

P.S. To be real cynical, it's only exploitation in the US. 3rd world kids get exploited all the time. At least they get to play in the cleats they make.
