Kerry Collins Comes Back for Indy

Kerry Collins had announced his retirement last month after being part of 5 different franchises over his 16 year career in the NFL. However, it seems like Collins has Favred a bit as the Colts contacted him and signed him to a two year contract with $4 million going to Kerry this season. This signing is spurred by the fact that Peyton Manning might not be ready for the start of regular season because his neck is not healing fast enough. Manning has started every game since coming into the league and must come back for the opener for any chance to catch Favre for the most consecutive starts.

Getting an experienced ex-starter like Kerry Collins is the best thing that the Colts can do right now. Even though Collins has never been a great QB like Manning, he has been able to put up some good performances. He was able to make the Pro Bowl a couple of times. Collins always seemed to be a QB that can keep you in contention but one that could never win a title. He was close once but the Ravens put an end to that bid. Collins might be able to hold down the fort for a few weeks but Manning will have to come back to give the Colts a chance at a postseason.
