Rams: Let the Bidding Begin

Life seems to be looking good for Robert Griffin III. Since the NFL combine showed what RG3 could do, the eyes and desire for the Heisman winner have gone up and through the roof. Some have even started to dare say he might be the better choice than Andrew Luck. He is pretty fast with that 4.41 in the dash. As a result, the Rams are enjoying life as well. Even though they could, the Rams apparently will not take RG3. They want to see where this Sam Bradford takes them and that's just fine. As a result, the Rams have said that the their pick, the #2 overall pick that has RG3's name all over it, is available to be traded for.

Well someone hire an auctioneer and send them to New York City for the Draft. As for the potential bidders, it seems that the Browns, the Dolphins, and the Redskins are the most prominent having already talked with the Dolphins about the pick and with each team having a spot in the first 8 picks. Whoever wins the pick will have to trade away half their future for it. It would be interesting if the Browns get the pick considering they still have Colt McCoy who hasn't fully blossomed yet.

Which of these teams would be the best fit for RG3? The Dolphins. New Head Coach would love a new QB to develop after having success with Aaron Rodgers and it just seems that the Dolphins are a bit more stable than the Browns or the Redskins. Who will get the pick? Don't know but leaning to the Redskins what with their owner not afraid of making risky moves. Now there could be another team out there that makes a play for RG3 but we will have to wait and see where RG3 ends up.

Captain Varitek to Retire

I recently had to say goodbye to Tim Wakefield of the Red Sox and I now have to say goodbye to another member of the team. Jason Varitek, captain of the Red Sox, is going to retire from the sport and make the announcement Thursday. He is only the third captain of the team since 1923. He was there almost as long as Wakefield was as the catcher for the team. He was there when the Curse was broken in 2004 and when the Red Sox won the title again in 2007. He was a Red Sox for his entire career.

It's sad to see the Captain now leave the team. To be fair, his numbers have dropped off considerably. I will miss Varitek as well. Maybe not as much considering that it looks like he might still be part of the team in some way. Heck, I miss a lot of famous Red Sox players that were part of the recent World Series teams. All the moves certainly speak on how much turnover there is in baseball and even sports in general.

As for a legacy, I don't think Varitek will make the Hall of Fame. He will be remembered by the team and the nation for being the Captain and part of the Curse breaking 2004 team but outside of that he might not the recognition he deserves.

Matt Kenseth Wins the Delayed Daytona 500

For me, any NASCAR event lasts too long. This one took forever to just start and then a whole dynasty to finish. This year's Daytona 500, the Super Bowl of NASCAR, went through so much that I'm surprised that it's finally over. It spanned three days from the time it was supposed to start to when it was finally over. The event was rained out for the first time ever in the history of the race and had to be raced on Monday at noon eastern. Then, there was still rain that delayed it even more and there was speculation that it would have to be raced on Tuesday. But they managed to start the race at around 7 PM eastern. They still ended it on Tuesday, though, in the early morning hours.

The race started and there was almost an immediate crash. Somewhat the theme of the night. The race kept going through it all but had to stop around lap 160 due to Juan Pablo Montoya crashing into a safety truck under caution. All the fire from the crash and the 200 gallons of jet fuel pouring from the truck caused a delay of over two hours. They were able to continue thanks to the knowledge gained from doing the laundry. When it started again, there were more crashes and caution flags until finally it ended after a two-lap overtime finish with Matt Kenseth taking the checkered flag.

In one of the wackiest Daytona's in history, certainly the most drawn out, Matt Kenseth wins. This is actually his second win at the event as he won it back in 2009. I bet he's telling everyone right now that it was worth the wait. He had to deal with rain and fire and came out the winner. He even dealt with Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s late push for the win.

Congrats to him and thank goodness it's all over. 36 hours for anything is way too long. Thank goodness it wasn't the actual Super Bowl as the country would've lost it if that had happened. Now it's on to the next race for the drivers as they now have to hustle quickly to Phoenix.

Lin and Knicks get Too Much Heat

Last night was where the nation found a unfortunate cure to Linsanity: The Miami Heat. They went into South Beach and found a determined Triple Heat to put an end to the hype surrounding Jeremey Lin. Lin only shot 1-11 from the field, had 8 points, 3 assists, and committed 8 turnovers on the night. Definitely the worst game during this stretch of Linsanity. Meanwhile, each of the Triple Heat had at least 20 points on the evening and the team crushed the Knicks, 102-88.

A setback to say the least for the Knicks squad. Also, they still can't get over .500 when they get the chance. Grant it, this time they played a very good defensive team in Miami. Good thing for them is that it is now the All Star Break and they will have some time to get their act together and regroup into the team they hope to be. Meanwhile, the Heat re-assert their dominance over the Eastern Conference as the break comes. Its them or the Bulls.

Ryan Braun Wins Drug Appeal... Technically

The recent big drug scandal in MLB was with Ryan Braun, the reigning NL MVP, who tested positive for a PED sometime last season. Ryan Braun then appealed the results in order to try and avoid a 50 game suspension, something that seems like a waste of time in this kind of situation. It wasn't for Ryan Braun. Braun actually won the appeal. His team seemed to attack the technical aspect of carrying out the drug tests citing mishandling the shipment and the sample. He won thanks to a procedural error on the part of a third party. Earlier today, Braun spoke out in front of the media and declared his innocence once more. He said he beat this because "the truth is on my side."

First of all, I have seen too many episodes of Law & Order to just simply think he is innocent because of minor mishandling of the evidence or the sampling. Does that raise my cred at all? Second, I'm not saying he is guilty either. I don't know how the actual test could've been affected by this mishandling or if it could've been affected at all. All I can say is that there is doubt, more significant doubt than any other person accused of PED use, that Braun is actually guilty of the charge. As it stands, I would just abstain if someone asked me whether or not I thought Ryan Braun was ever a PED user. I am open to convincing but right now I don't hold anything against Ryan Braun.

So what does this mean for the future with Baseball and drugs? Not sure yet. It could mean players would have stronger cases for overturning suspensions and positive results. What will be very interesting to see is whether or not MLB will try and file a suit over this result. They disagree (to put it lightly) with the third voter, Shyam Das, for ultimately deciding Braun's fate considering the other two guys ultimately vote on the side of the players and the league respectively. This episode of "Law & Order: MLB Narcotics" might have a surprising sequel on the horizon.

Canucks End Red Wings' Home Winning Streak

It has been a fun run for the Detroit Red Wings. Unfortunately, all great things come to an end. Last night, the Red Wings played at home against the visiting Vancouver Canucks and it was a tight one. The Canucks managed to comeback twice against the Red Wings with that last goal coming with about 16 seconds left in regulation. After a scoreless OT, Alexandre Burrows of the Canucks scored the only shootout goal which gave the Canucks the win, 4-3, and ends the Red Wings home winning streak at 23 games.

The Red Wings last night played a great game and so did the Canucks. It took a great team that went to Stanley Cup Finals last year to just beat the Red Wings in a shootout in Detroit. In the big picture, this streak will mean a little something when it comes to actually bringing some intimidation for home ice later on. But we will have to wait to see how the Red Wings will do at home compared to on the road in the postseason.

To end, thank you Red Wings for a great streak to follow. A record which I'm sure you will hold for a long time.

Duerson's Family Sues the NFL

Here is where the concussion debate and the lawsuits surrounding them gets real interesting. Dave Duerson, former safety in the NFL most notable for playing for the Bears, committed suicide last year at the age of 50. That in itself is a tragedy but it gets worse. His brain was examined after he had died and it was determined that he had a neurodegenerative disease that is linked to concussions. His family has now filed a wrongful death suit against the NFL over his suicide. As said in the AP article "The lawsuit accuses the NFL of negligently causing the brain damage that led Duerson to take his own life at the age of 50 by not warning him of the negative effects of concussions."

There was already controversy surrounding the NFL and concussions. This just seemingly makes things worse for the league. On top of the huge number of ex-NFL players suing the league for misleading them about concussions, they now have a suit that alleges someone has taken his own life as a result. We don't the whole facts quite yet but it doesn't look good for the league at all. This sport of football is getting harder and harder to defend or like to a degree. To see all these brutal hits in the game and think of what it might add up to when it comes to brain trauma is just frightening.

If concussions in the NFL and football continue to be an issue despite all the precautions the league is taking, they might just lose some fans and support for the sport. What parent would want their child to play a game that causes debilitating brain injuries and diseases in their later years?

P.S. What about the NCAA and football? I wonder if they care about the health and safety of their sla... I mean "student athletes." (NOPE!!!)

Manny Comes Out of Retirement

I thought we had seen the last of Manny Ramirez when he retired last season after failing another drug test. I guess I was wrong. Manny was just being Manny. He is apparently coming out of retirement and playing another season in the bigs. Who signed Manny? The Oakland A's signed Manny to a one year contract worth $500,000. However, Manny still has to serve his suspension. But, instead of the 100 game suspension he was facing last year, he will only serve a 50 game suspension. Can anyone explain that?

Manny is back for more baseball. So what? I don't think he will be effective. He'll likely be 40 when he makes his official return and his production has already gone downhill. The A's have made a lot of weird moves this offseason and this one, possibly with the Cespedes addition next to it, seems to be the weirdest. Manny will bring in a few fans but his popularity has gone down significantly. He's worth $500,000 but not much more.

Mavs Feel the Linsanity and Durant Plants 51 on the Nuggets

Two fine performances across the NBA yesterday. First, Jeremy Lin and the Knicks rebounded from their loss to the Hornets on Friday by beating the defending champs. The Mavericks thought they would test their mettle against the Knicks and their new founded talent and they seemed to keep it close. Dirk Nowitzki had a fine game with 34 points. Jeremy Lin, however, had another great game. True, Lin committed 7 turnovers but he had 28 points, 14 assists, and 5 steals as the Knicks won it, 104-97. Back to an even .500 once more. Someone tell Melo to take his time coming back.

The other fine performance comes from Kevin Durant who posted a career high in points as his Thunder took on the Nuggets. This game was very close and actually went into OT. In the end, it was OKC picking up the win, 124-118. Russell Westbrook had 40 points and 9 assists in this game but Durant had the career high 51 points along with 8 rebounds. This win reassures the Thunder as the best team in the West at the moment.

A fine weekend of basketball. Man, that's weird to say.

A Pirates Life for Burnett

When the Yankees picked up both AJ Burnett and CC Sabathia a couple of years ago, the thought was that they were getting a top level pitching rotation as a result. That was only sort of the case. It worked in 2009 as they won the World Series but the following two seasons it fell apart, specifically with AJ Burnett. He had ERA's over 5 for both subsequent seasons and was 21-26 over that time. With the money they were paying him, Burnett was a bust. So they traded him. It was rumored for a few days but now it's official: AJ Burnett is going to the Pittsburgh Pirates for a couple of low level prospects.

Do you hear that, AJ? That's sound of hitting rock bottom AKA the Pirates. HEY, YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE!!! Sure, the Pirates do look like they could be contenders on the horizon but I still don't believe it until they are playing in October again. Perhaps if Burnett could reach his old standards they could make it. That what the Pirates are hoping they can do with him. As for the Yankees, they look like they will be alright. They now have Hiroki Kuroda who had a respectable 3.07 ERA last season for the Dodgers. Plus, Ivan Nova seems on the up and up. Looks like a solid rotation, unfortunately.

Hornets Tame Linsanity

Perhaps this will calm things down in the NBA. Jeremy Lin has been the toast of Wall Street for the last couple of weeks and that fever for him was looking to go into the weekend. The NBA owned New Orleans Hornets, however, ruined the fun. Just when the Knicks managed to climb back to an even .500, they lose and are back under it again. The Knicks had to try and mount a comeback that maybe needed another minute or two to be successful. The Hornets manage to put an end to the Knicks 7 game winning streak, 89-85.

Point wise, Lin did not have a bad game with 26 points. The problem was that the turnovers finally caught up to him. 9 turnovers and only 5 assists for Lin. Something he will need to get better at if this team is going to contend. Still, this is just a hiccup compared to what Lin has done for the last couple of weeks. The real test for the Knicks this weekend is the Mavericks on Sunday. They hope to have Carmelo Anthony back for that game and we hope to see a glimpse at what this new Big Three will bring for New York.

Tim Wakefield Retires from Baseball

When I first became a Red Sox fan, Tim Wakefield was there. Along with Nomar, Pedro, and other fine players, Wakefield was there as a starter for as long as I could remember. He was never a superstar pitcher but he earned his keep with his unique pitch: the Knuckleball. He seemed like a down the middle of the road pitcher but reliable for giving a decent year through and through despite doing it with an unpredictable pitch. Those days, however, are over. Tim Wakefield has decided to call it a career and retire from baseball after 19 seasons in the bigs, 17 of them with the Red Sox. He leaves the game with 200 total victories and 186 of them with the Red Sox, just 6 short of the tied Red Sox record in wins held by Roger Clemens and Cy Young.

I have a lot of respect for Tim Wakefield. He has been loyal to the nation for long and they have returned the favor. He was there for the best and the worst of times for the last 17 years. He was the pitcher that gave up the winning home run to Aaron Boone of the Yankees in the 2003 ALCS. He was there in the 2004 ALCS ("The Comeback") when he took a beating in game 3 to preserve the bullpen and then helped win game 5 in a long 14 inning game. He was there when the curse was broken in 2004 and there when the Red Sox won it again in 2007. He was there when they needed him to start games or to fill a few innings in when they needed it. I thank him for all of it.

Tim Wakefield will never be known as one of the best but he will be known as one of the most unique. That in itself makes him a Hall of Famer in my book.

Red Wings Win 21st Straight Home Game

Hopes you all had a great Valentine's day. The Detroit Red Wings sure did. They played the Dallas Stars last night in Detroit and would win the game, 3-1. It's always nice to get a win but this one set a record. The Red Wings won their 21st straight game on their home ice, an NHL record. This breaks the 20 game home winning record, a mark made over 80 years ago by Boston in the 1929-1930 season and tied by Philly in 1976. A very cool achievement for the Red Wings as this streak sort of makes them the one team you don't want to have home ice advantage in the Postseason. Sure, home ice advantage doesn't seem to matter much in the postseason in recent years but why take a chance now?

A Game Linning Three Pointer

How's that for bad puns.

Over this past week or so, Jeremy Lin has the been main topic of discussion across the NBA for what he has done over a 5 game stretch. Now we are talking about what has happened over a 6 game stretch. Today, Lin took his talents to Canada as the Knicks played the Toronto Raptors. The Knicks fell behind in this game and it didn't seem like Lin was helping that much as he had 8 turnovers on the night. But in the 4th quarter, the Knicks were able to mount a comeback with some assistance from Lin. It was tied at 87 when the clock winding down to its final seconds. Lin had the ball and shot from beyond the arc and made the game winning 3 pointer with a half second remaining. The Knicks win, 90-87.

Somehow Jeremy Lin makes Linsanity even greater than it already was. Incredible. Lin now leads his team to their 6th win... sorry, 6th Lin in a row. I must say I think I know partly why this guy is such a phenom to so many people: LeBron James. It seems weird but hear me out. Ever since "The Decision," NBA Fans in general have been looking for someone else to embrace and to follow. What better guy to follow than a star that seems to have come out of no where? Also, he plays for the NEW YORK Knicks. Everyone seems to eat up stars that play in New York City or at least New Jersey (ELI).

In the end, a good game for Lin. Despite the turnovers, he still had 27 points, 11 assists, and the game winning three. Can this guy get anymore popular?

P.S. I know it's too late but I'm sure NBA officials are wondering if there was a way to get this guy on the NBA All Star Roster. I don't care how many rules you're breaking, make it happen. Fans want to see this guy play more than anyone else.

Moss is Pulling a Favre

After a disappointing 2010 season of being traded from team to team to team, Randy Moss retired from the NFL and a lot of people speculated, including myself to a degree, that Moss would come back sometime this last season to play for someone anyway. That did not happen. No one seem to call on him and he stayed retired. Now Randy Moss wants to comeback. Yesterday on his birthday, Moss announced that he would like to return to the NFL. He said on ustream "I wanna play football" adding "Your boy is going to come back here and play some football, so I'm really excited. I had some things I had to adjust in my life."

Moss is now coming back after just turning 35 years old. Still fair age for a WR but not prime age. So will anyone want Randy Moss? Guessing no. No one seemed to pick up T.O. when he was trying to get signed but then again he is a few years older. I will guess that some teams will take a look but I don't think he will get signed by anyone. The NFL doesn't seem to be interested in aged WR's like they used to be in the past. It hasn't worked out for Rodney Harrison or T.O. and Chad Ochocinco wasn't really used at all when he was on the Pats this last season. Then again that last one may have had to do more with chemistry than ability.

Moss also has chemistry working against him. I think teams would rather take T.O. over Moss just because they know T.O. will always give it 110% on the field. Moss has an attitude problem that many teams would just like to pass over. That will always work against Moss more than any other receiver.

I hope Moss does manage to comeback this year to add a little more excitement but I it doesn't really look good for him. I am also interested to see whether or not Hines Ward manages to find a place to play. He will turn 36 next month. Good luck to both of them.

P.S. Be sure to tune into the Dan and Van Show every Thursday night at 8 PM on KSUNradio.com... Pretty Good.

P.P.S. The Sports Khan Radio Show has been put on hiatus. Sorry, don't have the time right now for another show. Plus, having a lot of fun with Van.

"Linsanity" Takes Down the Lakers

Being already a sub .500 team, the Knicks had just lost there two biggest stars as Melo was out with an injury and Amare Stoudemire left to deal with the passing of his brother. It looked like another stretch of bad luck for the Knicks. However, it was not so. One of their PG's, Jeremy Lin, started to step up. He was scoring well and the Knicks won three games in a row. Now the Lakers come to town and it just seems like they will put Jeremy Lin and the Knicks in their place what with Kobe Bryant dissing on Lin. Instead, Lin is the one that disses on the Lakers. Lin scores 38 points and gets 7 assists as the Knicks won the game, 92-85.

Where has this guy been? Very exciting to see unexpected talent like this reach the NBA level and start to turn some heads. Lin is making a difference for the this team. He is stepping up when they need it the most and they have won 4 in a row with him as their best performer. Makes you wonder what the team will do when Melo and Amare come back. I hope they will get better instead of focusing on their big guys. Hard to imagine that they won't start using Lin as one of their big scorers from now on. Good luck to the Knicks and keep it up, Jeremy Lin.

Fabio Capello Quits as England's Manager

I told you I was going to write about stories abroad if none were interesting here. Who cares about a buzzer beater between Duke and UNC in the middle of a worthless NCAA Basketball season?

Overseas, England is going through a change in more than one way. They had just relieved John Terry as captain of the national squad and they seemingly now have to get a new manager. Fabio Capello has resigned as England's manager as he was seemingly very upset with his bosses that stemmed from the stripping of Terry's captaincy. I believe that Capello was going to leave after Euro 2012 but now the national squad will have to go through the tournament with a new manager. He was manager of England's squad for 4 years and won about 67% of the matches while there.

This just sounds like a disaster for England. I know the Terry thing sounds serious with the racist charges around it but I'm a little confused on why they did this now? If Terry did say these offensive things then he deserves criticism and appropriate punishment but I think Capello was just trying to keep England's chances of winning the Euro cup. Perhaps the FA were trying to keep the national team's image pure going into the tournament.

Whatever the argument and fighting was about, England now has no leader, on or to the side of the pitch. They just look like they won't do well in this tournament at all.

P.S. As for a possible new manager, Harry Redknapp from Tottenham Hotspur seems like the candidate everyone wants. He also just seemingly was cleared of tax evasion charges.

Alright, What Else is Going On?

With the end of the NFL season, I now have to turn my attention elsewhere and figure out what else is going on in the wonderful world of sports.

In the NBA, the big current news is that Kobe Bryant just passed Shaquille O'Neal on the all time scoring list for fifth place. Even though they lost to the Sixers last night in that same game, Kobe doesn't care as long as he can just say he is better than Shaq in everything. Elsewhere in the NBA, it seems that Chicago and OKC have the best winning percentages in their respective conferences. Meanwhile, the Clippers are creating a buzz around the NBA, recent champions like the Celtics, Lakers, and Mavs are under performing, and the Nuggets are 15-10 without Melo while the Knicks are 10-15 with him. Though to be fair I have heard that Melo has had a few "Knicks" along the way.

What about that "other" league? The NHL has just been waiting for Sidney Crosby to return (again) and it seems like his docs missed a neck injury that might be causing his problems. I wonder what crappy HMO he has? Meanwhile, it looks like the Rangers and the Red Wings are the best teams in the league so far at least by points in the standings. Other stories around the league include when is Sidney Crosby coming back, how is Sidney Crosby doing, and , my gosh, I miss Sidney Crosby. Also the San Jose Sharks are on pace to make their annual elimination appearance in the playoffs.

Briefly in the world of soccer, Man City still has an edge in the EPL title race but with only a 2 point lead. Meanwhile, my Chelsea is barely holding onto fourth place as they just blew a 3-0 lead over Man U to end up with a tie game, 3-3. But hey, they're still in the UCL though. HA HA HA. Speaking of the UCL, the Round of 16 begins on February 14th. The most interesting two game match up seems to be between AC Milan and Arsenal not to insult Marseille vs. Internazionale. Just to wrap this up, Real Madrid and Barcelona are still around in the UCL. Meanwhile, Real Madrid leads La Liga by 7 points while Barcelona eliminated Real Madrid from the Copa del Rey.

That whole summation took longer than expected. And yes, expect more Futbol posts. Heaven knows that I can't keep doing posts with the two big professional sports here all the time.

GIANTS WIN SUPER BOWL IN HOUSE PEYTON BUILT!!!

At the beginning of the year, Eli Manning was asked whether or not he thought he was in the elite class of QB's in the NFL. He said he was in that class with Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Many analysts questioned Eli for saying that and thought the statement was false. None of those analysts are speaking at the moment.

Super Bowl XLVI was earlier today and it featured a Super Bowl Rematch from XLII: The New York Giants vs. the New England Patriots. It seemed the two weeks leading up to to this game, only two things were ever talked about. One was about Rob Gronkowski and whether or not he would be able to play well with that high ankle sprain. The second was, considering it was being played in Indianapolis, was simply speculation about Peyton Manning and whether or not he would return to the Colts. Only the first thing was answered. Gronkowski seemed ineffective for the most part making only two catches for 26 yards and no TDs.

Outside of Gronkowski, it was still a great game. Brady was sacked for a safety early in the game when he threw it away down field. Those were the first points scored in this Super Bowl. The Giants would capitalize off the drive caused by the safety scoring a TD pass to Victor Cruz. When the second quarter came, the Pats owned it with a FG and then a TD pass to Danny Woodhead capping off a 96 yard drive to end the half. It was 10-9, Pats, entering the half time show where I finally went to the bathroom.

To start the second half, the Pats scored another TD, this time a TD pass to Aaron Hernandez. The Giants would rebound a bit with two FGs before the last quarter came. It was here and maybe after a shot to Brady and his shoulder where things just weren't the same. Brady threw an INT near the end of the Third which just spelled doom. However, it was not until the final minute of the game, with the Giants marching down field, did the Pats lose the lead. Ahmad Bradshaw scored a TD with 57 second left which looked like a run he didn't want to complete seeing the amount of time left for Brady. However, the defense for the Giants stepped up. A sack on Brady forced him to use his one time out left and, despite an impressive 4th down conversion, Brady had to throw a Hail Mary and the G-Men just knocked it down as time expired. Giants win their 4th Lombardi Trophy, 21-17.

A championship for the Big Apple, once more, and the second Super Bowl Ring for Eli Manning. Let the discussion begin: Is Eli Manning better that his brother, Peyton Manning. There is no doubt Eli is one of the best QB's in the NFL considering what he has done this year on top of winning a Super Bowl. He has certainly put the Eli in "Elite." As for the Pats, times ticking, Tom. He'll be 35 next year and his time for tying the likes of his idol are almost up. They played pretty well in this game but some key drops by the receivers could've helped them get the win.

As for the Giants, they win another close Super Bowl game over the Pats and legacy for the likes of Tom Coughlin and Eli have to start being considered. Eli also won his 2nd Super Bowl MVP after going 30/40 for 296 yards and one TD pass in the game. The Giants also keep setting the trend of hot teams going far in the playoffs and to the Super Bowl. Only 9-7 and Super Bowl champions. Right now it seems better to be on fire at the end of the season than the best team overall.

P.S. Okay, let the 2012 season begin. Meaning we get to answer that second question stated earlier: Where is Peyton going to end up?

NFL Adding Two Franchises?

The speculation all along has been that an NFL team from somewhere across the league was going to move to LA to occupy the new stadium that is being planned for the city. In an interview with Bob Costas, Roger Goodell said that the league doesn't want to move any of their teams. With that option out, what about 33 teams? That seems unlikely, as well. Goodell has said that the league wouldn't go to that due to mostly scheduling issues. What is the other option with a new franchise in LA? It's simple. Add another franchise to the league on top of the one in LA to balance it out. If the NFL puts a team in LA, Goodell says the league will likely add another team elsewhere which will be 34 teams in the NFL at that point.

I have two problems with this whole issue. First, LA doesn't want a team (or two for that matter). Just ask the Rams, Chargers, and Raiders. Second, where else are you going to put a team? I could see Memphis to a degree but the Titans own the whole state. Oklahoma City could work considering the Thunder are managing to keep their team. Problem is that they only have a 20K seat stadium compared to 70K one from the NFL to fill. Portland has had some history with professional teams but nothing to this level. It's sort of fun pulling up a US map and looking at all the possible places for an NFL franchise. I wonder how many thousands will write to the offices in New York and beg for a team.

This possible 34th team adds even more implications in the LA stadium deal. Will it happen? All the signs point to a team in LA and, if this interview is accurate, that means the people should start writing the Commissioner.

Other than these possible US cities, I don't see where in the US Goodell could fit ano.... no... not over there... NOT LONDON!!! GOODELL, I BEG OF YOU TO KEEP THIS IN THE COUNTRY!!!

P.P.S. CANADA, AT THE WORST!!!

Cotto de Mayo

So the title is a bit offensive but that's what comedy is for the most part.

Floyd Mayweather said a while back that he had the MGM Grand reserved for a fight May 5th and he wanted to face Manny Pacquiao. It seems that Mayweather will have a fight on that day as he received a one time license from the Nevada Athletic Commission to fight. The problem is that it's not Pacquiao he's fighting, it's Miguel Cotto. After the hearing, Mayweather tweeted "I'm fighting Miguel Cotto on May 5th because Miss Pac Man is ducking me."

First of all, I hope Cotto beats his a**. Second of all, if Pacquiao does indeed fight Timothy Bradley Jr. in June like it is speculated, I hope Bradley beats his a**. Why have I turned on both of them? Because I have had it with waiting for the "Best Fight Ever." I'm losing interest in this fight that doesn't appear to be coming any time soon.

If it ever happens, so be it. But I am tired of rooting for it and never seeing it come. I hope Mayweather loses most of all. That way the Pacquiao-Mayweather speculation might die down with Mayweather having a loss on his record and to a guy that Pacquiao had beaten.
