Odom Back in LA... for the Clippers this Time

One of the biggest disappointments of the last season in the NBA was Lamar Odom. Maverick's fans and Khloe Kardashian were disappointed with Lamar's overall performance in Dallas. Though Khloe might've been more depressed with the fact that he was in Dallas and not making up BS up for a reality show in LA. Anyway, everyone knows that Lamar would much rather play in LA than anywhere else. Lamar got his wish as he was traded back to LA but to the other team in the Staples Center, the Clippers. He joins he team as part of a four team trade which also sends Mo Williams to the Jazz.

Lamar Odom goes to the Clippers to fill a vital role for them. Despite the fact he will be in a setting more to his liking, fans and analysts will wonder if Lamar can make an impact for them unlike in Dallas. If Odom wants to make this year big for the contract talks looming ahead, he will need to have a great year for the Clippers. Let's just hope this works out.

2012 NBA Draft: Top 2 From UK

The NBA Draft was last night and beyond the obvious things like Anthony Davis getting drafted number 1 and Commissioner Stern getting booed, it was a nice evening. Anthony Davis does go number 1 to the New Orleans Hornets while his teammate from Kentucky, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, goes number 2 overall to the Bobcats. The following 3 are Bradley Beal to the Wizards, Dion Waiters to the Cavs, and Thomas Robinson to the Kings. A nice moment of the night was Doc Rivers seeing his son, Austin Rivers, getting drafted number 10 overall and going to the Hornets. UNC and UK sees 4 outgoing players each go in the first round.

A interesting night to say the least. Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers are the same team entering in the NBA. Along with Eric Gordon who they want to come back will make the Hornets a possible playoff team in the coming years. The Celtics also made a couple of interesting back-to-back selections at 21 and 22 overall. They pick Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo. A couple of big guys to possibly reload for another playoff run. Better hope that the KG and Ray Allen are coming next season. As for you Warrior fans...

Anyway the draft is over with free agency and the Olympics around the corner for the NBA. As for the amount of Olympic Basketball games I will be watching? Zero. Rather watch other sports that don't get any attention outside the Olympics.

P.S. Sort of hate Anthony Davis right now. You don't own the Unibrow you jerk. I got a guy name Bert on Sesame Street that will kick your a** for that.

Spain and Italy to Meet in Euro Final

Euro 2012 is almost over as the semifinals have just ended.

The first match between Spain and Portugal in another Iberian Classic. The battle for the peninsula was droll during the main match and had to go all the way into penalties. The PK's went Spain's way as Cesc Fabregas hit the winner, 4-2, while Cristiano Ronaldo didn't even get a chance to shoot for Portugal. He was scheduled to shoot fifth but didn't have to. A possible blunder for the Portuguese squad as thier coach, Paulo Bento, will surely be questioned for the decision to not have Ronaldo shoot earlier in the PK's. Meanwhile, Spain moves on for a chance to repeat as champs of the Euro.

The other semifinal was between Germany and Italy. The match became all about Mario Balotelli, the Italian star who usually plays for Man City. While his antics might be best left off the pitch, no one can argue with the fact that he can score. He had a heading goal in the 20' and then a second goal with a nice drive and kick in the 36'. Despite a yellow card because of the celebration of the 2nd goal, those goals went a long way. Italy wins on the goals, 2-1, and head to the final. Balotelli makes headlines for Italy.

Now it's Spain and Italy in the final for Sunday. A nice match up between the last two champions of the World Cup. Spain, however, are my favorite to win the final. While their style isn't exactly the most exciting, it's effective and gets them results.

Giants Sweep the Dodgers with Timmy Getting a Win

The Giants have been playing behind so far this season trying to catch the Dodgers. Winning this series against the Dodgers would help that cause very much. Getting the sweep would accomplish it. The Giants shut them out for games 1 and 2 and game 3 was yesterday with Tim Lincecum on the mound. Now Timmy is usually a plus out there but so far this season he has been a bust. He and Zito seemed to have switched places up till now. Timmy, however, didn't disappoint and was back to his old self. He played 7 innings, no runs allowed, 8 K's, 2 BB, and 4 hits allowed. He even made a nice play at the plate. The Giants would scrap a few runs in the 3rd and 5th inning and win the game, 3-0.

The Giants sweep the Dodgers and are now tied for first place in the NL West. Still a long way to go in the season and LA didn't have Matt Kemp available but the fact that we swept the Dodgers and shut them out the entire series is a good sign. A great sign considering that Timmy delivered in one of the games. Perhaps this will finally be the turning point that Giants fans have waited for with Lincecum. It was his first win in 11 starts. Either way, the Giants now share the top spot in the division and hope to stay there knocking off the Dodgers a bit further down the road.

Youkilis Deported from the Nation

Kevin Youkilis has been a key part of the Red Sox lineup for years and has been a fan favorite. It all seemingly changed this year. Youkilis has not been having a good season which has been plagued by injuries and slumps. Bobby V's early season criticism of him didn't seem to have helped things but instead set the tone. While a player is slumping, the last thing that player wants is someone else coming in and doing a better job. That's Will Middelbrooks with a batting average of .326 and an OBP of .365. Middlebrooks has played about the same number of games as Youkilis and has done better across the board.

So what happens? The obvious happens and Youkilis gets traded. He'll still be a Sox, just a White Sox. Kevin Youkilis has been traded to the White Sox for pitcher Zach Stewart and 1st baseman Brent Lillibridge. The White Sox have been worse at 3B as a collective and hope that Kevin Youkilis will help the team. Youkilis' time with the Red Sox is over after two World Series titles (most notably 2007) and this last game with the Red Sox today where he went 2 for 4 including an RBI triple.

I'm sad to see Youkilis go but wish him well. It's been fun to see that unique approach at the plate and his great AB's. Unfortunately he has been slumping and getting hurt plus he's getting up there in age. All players must get replaced eventually. Will Middlebrooks seems like a good choice right now. Here's hoping Will does just as well as Youk has.

Sandusky Convicted of 45 Counts

The biggest scandal involving any college football program is almost over. The Jerry Sandusky Trial had just concluded and a verdict has been reached. The trial covered 10 boys that were abused over 15 years and Sandusky faced 48 counts of abuse because of it. The Jury came out and found Jerry Sandusky guilty of 45 of those counts charged against him. Sandusky now awaits sentencing which will undoubtedly be the rest of his life. Sentencing will likely be in a few months and he could get up to 448 years in prison.

A justified end to one of the worst scandals imaginable. Though justice has been served, it feels like there is still a hollow feeling after it all. Nothing done here could ever change what had happened in the past. As one of the mothers put it "Nobody wins. We've all lost."

ALL HAIL THE KING AND THE MIAMI HEAT!!!

9 years ago, LeBron James entered the NBA seemingly already a star. During his path to a title, he developed his skills, grew and matured, and lit up the league as a star. His team grew around him and made strides to try and get an NBA title. LeBron then saw he couldn't win in Cleveland, ditched them for Miami, and now, two years later, finally gets the crown he so desperately needed.

The NBA Finals up to this point were just taken over by the Heat. Games 2-4 were close but the Heat just kept the Thunder at bay and prevented them from making any good comeback. They did an even greater job tonight. It was basically the Heat's night from the start with the Thunder making a few comeback runs to get it close only to have the Heat pull away again. By the third quarter, the Thunder couldn't keep up anymore. The Heat pulled away in the third and never looked back. The Miami Heat win, 121-106, and win their 2nd NBA Title in franchise history. It was LeBron James... sorry, "King" James' first title and he was named NBA Finals MVP.

"It's about damn time" were the first words from King James about winning the title and it pretty much summed it up. 9 seasons in the NBA and finally he has a ring. James proved he was the MVP of the Finals in Game 5 with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. But he definitely had some help around him. Mike Miller tried to steal some of the spotlight shooting 7 for 8 from behind the arc. He had 23 total points. Dwanye Wade, who gets his 2nd ring, scored 20 points and 8 rebounds while Chris Bosh, the last of the Triple Heat, score 24 points and got 7 rebounds. While the King carried the Heat through much of this postseason, the team came together to shutdown OKC.

Don't feel bad, though, Thunder. Many of you guys are young and will have another bite at the apple someday. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are likely going to be able to lead this team back to the NBA Finals. Not sure whether or not James Harden will come back but he will have to do better for OKC if he does. The Thunder at least took another step closer to becoming a great team.

As for the Heat, their moment is now or at least one of their moments is now. I hope King James and the Heat will soak in the meaning of this title and truly appreciate it because everyone around them is expecting multiple titles. Ignore them all. People get lost when they look at the big picture. Just enjoy the nice brushstrokes that you all just made together.

Clemens Acquitted of All Counts

The next big trial regarding steroids just concluded. Roger Clemens has said for years that he has never taken any performance enhancer including steroids while former teammates and former trainer, Brian McNamee, said that he had. Weirdly enough, old needles were even mentioned. This trial, however, was to decide whether or not he lied to congress. No matter the subject, you don't lie to congress. Clemens, though, was found not guilty of all six counts of perjury. He thanked everyone who helped him and even got a bit choked up during his remarks.

Great, another waste of time. I'm not sure what to think of Roger Clemens anymore. I still don't like him but outside that thought I don't know what to think of him. Is he innocent? Is he guilty and they couldn't prove it? Should we never hear from him again? (yes) But the one thing I would like to say is that we just move on from the mentality of trying to punish anyone associated with the Steroid Era. It's not fair for me to hate on Roger for the PED association as I have cheered for Barry Bonds my whole life and even watched him break the Home Run record. For me I don't care about the Steroid Era anymore. To me, it's an era in baseball and, while it is a tainted era, deserves to have it's history and players represented in the Hall of Fame. You have to remember the good, the bad, and the grey.

I'm not excusing anyone who tries to cheat the game today or in the past. What I am saying is that even a flawed time in baseball has to be remembered.

P.S. The voters are still not going to let Clemens into the Hall of Fame. Whatever.

The 2nd LT to Retire

Another great running back is gone from the sport.

LaDanian Tomlinson hasn't been the same since he left the Chargers. Heck, even a bit before he left the Chargers. It looks like he will rejoin the Chargers... briefly. LT will re-sign with the Chargers for a day so he can retire with the team. LaDanian Tomlinson spent 11 seasons in the NFL, 9 with the Chargers and the last two with the Jets. He finishes his career with 13,684 rushing yards (5th all time), 145 rushing TDs (2nd all time), and 162 total TDs (3rd all time). He holds the single season TD record with 31 TDs in 2006 where he was also MVP.

A fine career LT has had. Only thing missing is a ring. Pity he missed out on that. He is certainly a Hall of Famer but that is something a lot of greats regret. Still, he should be proud of his career and I'm sure that he is. He'll still be known as one of the great rushers ever and greatest scorers.

Webb Simpson Wins US Open

The US Open was this last weekend and it was one where the whole Bay Area was buzzing. People who read this blog know that I don't like golf that much. I like to use my postings writing about sports. But when this kind of event happens in the Bay Area I have to at least mention it. So, as I was saying, the Olympic Club was hosting the tournament this weekend and Webb Simpson won it. He won it with a +1 score as the club just doomed the talented golfers and gave Golf another different winner. How droll is this.

Congrats to Webb Simpson on winning his first Major in Golf. It looked like Tiger Woods was going to contend but he seemed to play his way out of it before Sunday. There has been no consistent winner in golf and they need one badly. With Tiger and Phil not brazing the majors, a third guy has to step up and win another one while people vaguely remember their name. It's just something that Golf needs.

P.S. Didn't watch a damn second of it. I had sports to watch.

P.P.S. I also had to paint dry against a wall.

Heat Even Series Up at 1-1

Last night was game 2 of the NBA Finals and in order to keep this thing interesting, the Heat had to win. The Heat got out of the gate fast and managed to stay in front for the whole game. Dwayne Wade stepped up in this game to give LeBron more of a hand. Wade had 24 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Shane Battier also had a good night with 17 points with 5 three pointers. The Thunder would make a 4th quarter charge but were unable to catch Miami this time. Heat win, 100-96, and even the series at 1-1.

Nice chess match so far as the Heat answer back in OKC. Wade was more aggressive and Bosh started for them as he played 40 minutes, got 16 points and 15 rebounds. Now the Thunder still had a shot to win it just like game 1 coming back but it didn't work out. They should still feel confident in being able to win these games. But the Heat made a nice statement in this game as they made adjustments to get this win. Now it's the Thunder time to the same. Your move, OKC.

Matt Cain's Perfect Night by the Bay

Earlier tonight was one hell of a night in San Francisco. The Giants played the Astros in AT&T Park in the second of a three game series and it was a blowout from the beginning. The Giants scored 7 runs in the first three innings and it just didn't seem like it would be much of a game after that.

Then the crowd and everyone at home (including myself) noticed after a few innings that Giants' pitcher, Matt Cain, hadn't allowed a hit or given a walk yet. So we all stayed glued to our seats and Cain and the Giants didn't disappoint. Cain was dominate and he was striking out Astros left and right on his way to history. His outfielders didn't disappoint either with a couple of fine catches by Melky Cabrera and Gregor Blanco. The 9th inning came and he continued the theme. Joaquin Arias field a tricky grounder at third and threw out Jason Castro for the last out of the ballgame. Giants win 10-0 and Matt Cain throws the first Perfect Game in Giants Franchise history.

What a night for the 42,298 people there. Matt Cain puts himself in the record books with his night on the mound. He threw 14 K's in the 22nd Perfect Game in MLB history which is a career high for him and ties the most K's in a Perfect Game since 1900. He threw 125 pitches in this game which was the most ever in a Perfect Game. Cain is also the 2nd pitcher to throw a Perfect Game this season and the fifth to throw a No Hitter this season, 3rd in the month alone.

Matt Cain was simply brilliant tonight along with the rest of the team around him. He proved to the Bay Area and the country that he is the top pitcher in San Francisco. Despite it being a run away offensive performance, Cain was the story and he was Perfect.

Rome v. Stern: Lottery Rigged and Wife Beating?

After the NBA Lottery, a lot of people (me as well, for the hell of it) have suggested that the lottery was fixed to favor the Hornets and their new owner. This theory has been brushed aside and rightfully so because of a lack of proof and, in a way, how ridiculous it sounds. Jim Rome, however, didn't think it sounded far fetched. When Stern called into Jim Rome's radio show on the CBS Sports Network. Rome actually asked "I know that you appreciate a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, was the fix in for the lottery?" Stern said there wasn't and also shamed Rome for asking. During their conversation around the subject, Stern actually asked "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"

Perhaps that last one was a loaded question or a ridiculous question to shame Rome further. Whatever the case, I loved it. Sure, it appears that Jim Rome does these kinds of things to get ratings and attention but at least someone asked Stern about the legitimacy of the lottery. Also, I wonder if Stern gets how this coupled with the non-trade involving Chris Paul to the Lakers makes it seem like the league is fixing things around the NBA.

Is the NBA fixing things around the league? "OF COURSE THEY ARE NOT!!!" (nudge, nudge; wink wink). Now let's stop this ridiculous nonsense and watched our "non-fixed" NBA Finals.

Thunder Take 1-0 Lead

Tonight was game of the NBA Finals or basically the time were I say "thank goodness it's all almost over." It was a sea of blue in OKC where the Thunder hosted Game 1 against the Miami Heat. It was the match up that fans wanted: Kevin Durant v. LeBron James. A lot of players made great plays all night but it was Kevin Durant's night. Despite falling behind in the first half, the Thunder as a whole made a minor comeback to get back in it. The Thunder then dominated the 4th quarter with Kevin Durant leading the way with 17 points in the quarter alone. Durant had 36 all together along with 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The Thunder would take game 1, 105-94.

A fantastic performance by Durant tonight along with Russell Westbrook who had 27 points himself along with 11 assists and 8 rebounds. While the Heat had five players who were in double digits with points, LeBron James was the only one with over 20 with 30 points. Wade struggled with 19 points shooting 7-19. LeBron James is the main guy showing up consistently... except for the fourth quarter of course. You got Kevin Durant doing that.

A nice game 1 makes it seem like it's going to be a good series to watch. Have to considering that the Stanley Cup series is over.

FINALLY, KINGS OF THE NHL!!!

The NHL has been unpredictable as of recent memory. All a team really needs to do is just get into the postseason and that team seems to have a realistic chance of winning it all. That was certainly true of the 8th seeded Los Angeles Kings.

On the road to the cup, they had beaten the top seeded Canucks, then the Blues followed by the upstart Coyotes and all the while dominating their series' not giving the other side a chance to breath. This Stanley Cup Finals was no different. They had won the first three games of the series to put the Devils in a sizable hole. The Devils had fought back over the next couple of games to make the series 3-2 but game 6 had to be played in the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The crowd was there in a raucous cheering frenzy for their Kings as if they were at a Lakers game. The Kings managed to take advantage of a 5 minute major penalty against the Devils in the 1st period and scored 3 goals within that time span. The Kings would then score another with Jeff Carter getting credit in the beginning of the 2nd period. The Devils tried mounting a comeback with a goal late in the 2nd and by pulling their goalie with about 4 minutes left in the game. It did nothing, however, as the Kings managed to score a empty netter and then scored a final nail in the coffin a mere 15 seconds later courtesy of Matt Greene. Kings send the Devils back to hell (or simply called New Jersey) and win game 6 , 6-1, and the series along with it to claim their first Stanley Cup title ever in their 45 year history.

What a blowout to watch. Sure, it was fun seeing all those goals and seeing the crowd continuously taunt Martin Brodeur but this one just seemed one sided from the start. The Kings didn't want the Devils to mount "The Comeback" and made sure they weren't going back to New Jersey. As for the Conn Smythe Trophy, that deservedly goes to Jonathan Quick, the goalie, for his truly fantastic play and great saves near net in the postseason.

LA does get a title after all and in a sport it usually doesn't dominate. Congrats to the Kings for finally living up to your name.

Nadal Wins Record 7th French Title And Sharapova Completes her Career Slam

Novak Djokovic entered the French Open looking to win his 4th Grand Slam in a row and to do it by winning the tournament for the first time. After the tournament's conclusion, Roland Garros is still on Djokovic's to do list.

Unluckily for him the King of Clay, Rafael Nadal, was still around and in the final round against the Joker himself. Rafa was still in his prime and looking to climb the Grand Slam Title ladder some more with a win over Djokovic. The match was started yesterday but was delayed sometime in the middle of it due to rain and resumed this morning. Rafa would be the man to finish on top to start the week off as he beat Djokovic and clinching it on a double fault. Nadal wins 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 and takes his modern era record 7th French Open Title.

Congrats to Rafa and sorry to Djokovic as he will have to wait another year to complete his career slam... that is if he doesn't want to go to Denny's. Rafa proves he still owns the legendary clay court at Roland Garros and is unquestionably the king of the tournament itself. While Djokovic winning would have been history in a way, Nadal getting his 7th French Title is just worth so much more. He still has a way to go on the career Grand Slam mark but he now has 11 Grand Slam Titles which ties him at 4th with Bjorn Borg and Rod Laver.

For those who wanted to see a career Grand Slam, should've watched Saturday. I didn't and forgot to look up the score for the women's side. Yes, I should be more attentive but I always feel like Roland Garros gets the least amount of attention of all the Grand Slam events. Anyway, Maria Sharapova won the French open on the women's side for the first time ever in her career and completed here career Grand Slam. She beat Sara Errani 6-3, 6-2 to win the tournament. Congrats to her and Rafa... onto Wimbledon.

Heat Get to Finals for 2nd Straight Year

Didn't I say that the Heat would get to the finals after Derrick Rose got injured? Sure, it was a bit more shaky than I thought it would go but they made it, didn't they?

Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals was last night and the Celtics and Heat fought it out to decide who would face the Thunder of the midwest. It was a nice game to watch as the Celtics actually showed up for this game. They even had a lead at half time. Miami came out of the half, however, with a new source of "Heat" under them that just took over the game. The Celtics were able to keep up for a while but by the final minutes of the game they were simply exhausted. The Heat win the game, 101-88, and a trip to the Finals.

The Heat came through in the end and just put the old folks in their place: just down the street by the beach. The Celtics can't pull off the upset and now the Big Three in Boston might just break up without a 2nd title. It's a pity that this era in Celtic basketball ends with one title. Let's face it: they are done as a trio and even if they stick together they are too old to win with the young talent in the NBA.

As for the NBA Finals, the Thunder v. the Heat seem like the perfect match up. Rising stars v. established stars that people hate is just going to drip ratings despite one of the teams being located in OKC. My pick? A Big Three of some sorts.

He'll Not Have Another (Ever)

On the eve of the Belmont, the third leg in the Triple Crown of Horse racing, hopes for a horse to win the coveted title ended unexpectedly and unfairly. I'll Have Another was pulled from the Belmont today after trainer, Doug O'Neill, revealed that the horse was injured with swelling in his front left tendon which was apparently the beginning of tendinitis. The horse will lead a post race parade tomorrow at the Belmont as a farewell as the team decided it was best to retire I'll Have Another. One of the most surprising horses in recent history has his career cut short.

It was in the best interest's of the horse that he not run the Belmont because of the injury. Still, it's a shame that we will never see if the horse could win the Triple Crown. Injuries ruin great careers in all sports. But I would say that I'll Have Another did have a great career in horse racing. He won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness in two of the most unbelievable ways possible. Those races will be remembered for his runs down the stretch forever.

Horse racing, however, goes another year without a Triple Crown Winner. There hasn't been one since 1978. When it comes to attention and ratings, the sport itself could use the publicity. The sport needs "Another" Triple Crown Winner.

LeBron Dominates in Boston

LeBron James was all anyone could talk about after his game 6 performance. The Heat had their backs against the wall and LeBron James answered the call with a historic day against the Celtics. From the start, LeBron and the Heat dominated the game and never let the Celtics really get it going. LeBron scored 45 points in this game with 30 coming in the first half. He also got 15 rebounds and 5 assists. The Celtics get smoked at home, 98-79, and the Heat force a game 7 in Miami.

The series now has a game 7 with the momentum all in the Heat's favor. No doubt they will be favored to win as the Celtics just seem exhausted for another upset in Miami. LeBron had a fantastic game and one that puts some of his haters in their places. Sure, it wasn't a 4th quarter performance but it was clutch none the less.

Thunder Get Into NBA Finals

The Thunder are young, inexperienced, and headed to the NBA Finals. After falling behind 0-2 to the Spurs, they came back and won 3 in a row. Now it was game 6 in OKC. The Thunder were down by 15 at halftime but that didn't seem to stop them. They fought back against a Spurs team that was getting tired and managed to grab the lead by the 4th quarter. The Thunder just dominated the 2nd half and even stopped the Spurs from mounting any real comeback within the final minutes. Thunder win it, 107-99.

Big series clinching game for the Thunder at home. Russell Westbrook had a fine game with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists while Kevin Durant scored 34, had 14 rebounds, and 5 assists while being on the floor the entire 48 minutes. They just proved to be too much for the Spurs to keep up for the entire game. What a shame for the Spurs to win 20 in a row and then to be undone by 4 straight loses. That's how it goes sometimes.

Now the Thunder go on to the NBA Finals. They now wait to see if they will face another old, experienced team or the Triple Heat.

Celtics Win in... AAGH, SOMETHING ELSE TO WRITE ABOUT, PLEASE!!!

Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals was last night and one team took the series lead while the other fell behind. Yeah, it doesn't sound like a great lead but you try writing about basketball a lot and make it sound dramatic. It's either this or writing about Bryce Harper's walk off hit. Um...

Bryce Harper has been one of the most talked about rookies in the history of baseball. He's even become just about as talked about as his teammate, Stephen Strasburg, when he was a rookie. All the hype and he's actually holding his own. He did more than that last night when the Nationals took on the Mets in the first of a three game series. The game went into extras and the 12th brought excitement with the Mets took the lead in the top half and then Ian Desmond of the Nats hit in the game tying run in the bottom of the inning. Later, Bryce Harper came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs and hit a base hit to left field to end the game. Nats win, 7-6. Though a very small feat in his young career, this was Harper's first walk off hit ever in the Bigs.

A good win for the Nationals as they are actually leading the NL East by a game over the Marlins and the Mets by a 1.5 games. I didn't expect the Nats to be doing this well. They look like a team that could make the postseason this year and not just next. Harper himself is still doing well with a .288 avg, 5 Hrs, and 14 RBI's. The thing that sticks out to me is that his OBP is .375 which is very impressive for this young rookie. Looking at how the Nats are doing, maybe we'll get to see how the postseason affects Harper.

P.S. Oh and Celtics won, 94-90 blah blah blah.

Kings Dominating the Devils

Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals was last night and this was not more of the same we saw in the first two games of this series. This time the Devils didn't make a comeback while the Kings kept their skates on the jugular.

After fighting off a 5 on 3 penalty kill in the first period, the Kings struck twice in the 2nd. Alec Martinez forced a goal for the Kings by Martin Brodeur and then Anze Kopitar scored a nice goal after some nifty passing from the Kings. The 3rd period saw the series' first 2 power play goals for either side. First one from Jeff Carter and then the second by Justin Williams. Meanwhile, Jonathan Quick made amazing save after amazing save for the Kings. LA wins, 4-0, in the Staples Center and take a 3-0 series lead.

The Kings just owned this game with amazing teamwork and brilliant goal tending. The Devils had their chances and power plays but still couldn't get any goal. Quick was just too good and the defense was played nicely around him. It's hard to not call this series over but the Devils will try and survive. Game 4 will be Wednesday.

Celtics Even Series at 2-2

Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals was last night and it was crucial to both sides. The Celtics had stymied the Heat in game 3 and looked to do so again for another game in Boston. LeBron James and Paul Pierce were the top scorers for their respective team but when it mattered the most, neither was on the floor. The game went into OT after the Heat had caught up and with Pierce already fouled out, LeBron fouls out himself. The Celtics had a two point lead with Dwayne Wade getting a last second shot for the win that missed. Celtics win in OT, 93-91, and even the series at 2-2.

So the old folks managed to get a couple of wins in Boston. Big whoop. Let's see them get a win in Miami where it seems that Chris Bosh will return. I have to give credit to the Celtics for making this series but I still have got to give favor to the Heat. However, we are still seeing that the Heat are still struggling on those last second possessions where they need to score. Can't win titles without closing out games.

Kings' Repeat Performance and Thunder Even their Series Up

A couple of series' continued last night with being in the NHL. The Stanley Cup Finals continued and I swear it was like game 1. Everything seemed like the same thing. The Kings scored first, then the Devils answered, the game went into OT, and then the Kings won the game. Instead it was Jeff Carter scoring the winning goal in OT. Kings win, 2-1, and take a 2-0 series lead. Now the series moves to LA with the Devils in a position they do not want to be in.

Don't fret totally, though, New Jersey. The Thunder know what you're going through (kind of). They were down 0-2 but instead they played the next two games at home. This was the second home game after they had won the first. Just like game 3, the Thunder had help from people not named Westbrook or Durant. The big unknown today was Serge Ibaka with 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Durant still had a great game with 36 points. The Thunder would win this game, 109-103. Their series is now even a 2-2.

Now Devils you still have shot in this Stanley Cup Finals. You have to win the next game no matter how difficult but the Thunder have shown that you still have a shot (and the Thunder have a better one).

Santana Throws 1st No Hitter in Mets History

The New York Mets have surprisingly had a decent season so far. They have actually managed to stay above .500 and are right now among the contending pack for the AL East. It's very early in the season but they are still hanging around. Yesterday, however, was a very notable moment in their franchise's history. Last night the Mets were in their own Citi Field going against the Cardinals with Johan Santana pitching. Santana pitched a gem on the mound allowing a few walks but no hits. He managed to finish the game with a no hitter thanks to some great fielding and a miss umpire call in the sixth. Mets win it 8-0 while Johan Santana pitches the first ever no hitter in Mets history.

A long time coming for the New York Mets and it came with Johan Santana, their best pitcher in the rotation. Truly a remarkable moment for New York baseball. Santana threw 134 pitches on the night striking out 8 and walking 5. He was phenomenal and his name will definitely stay in the record books when it comes to Mets lore. To be the first to do anything that significant with any franchise makes you very beloved. Congratulations Johan Santana on achieving something long overdue.

Thunder Ends the Spurs' Winning Streak

A crucial game 3 was last night in the NBA between the Spurs and the Thunder. It was essential that the Thunder win this game in order for them to basically stay alive in this series. The Thunder must have had a defibrillator from nature itself as they came alive in this game. More specifically, Serge Ibaka and Thabo Sefolosha became relevant scoring a combined 33 points in this one. Kevin Durant had 22, Russell Westbrook only had 10, and James Harden had 15. The Thunder win, 102-82, and now are down 2-1 in the series.

On the last day in May, the Spurs finally lose a game. It was there first loss since April 11 which was still in the regular season. A big step for the Thunder. Sure, they still have a huge mountain ahead of them as they now have to win 3 more games out of four but this kind of improvement at home shows that they stand a chance. I'm still expecting the Spurs to win this series but possibly in 6 or 7 games rather than 4 or 5.
