Florida Puts Down the Bulldogs, Oregon Upsets USC, Iowa Survives and More

Today is Halloween and College football didn't dissapoint. Number one in the Land Florida played against Georgia where Tim Tebow may have played his best game of the year. He threw a 164 yards and 2 TD passes while running for 85 Yards and 2 TD on the ground. This was the game to watch if you are a Tebow fan. Florida wins 41-17. Meanwhile the Oregon Ducks out did the USC Trojans as they won 47-20. I knew I should've stayed home. The Ducks nearly ran for 400 yards and ran for 4 TD, all from different players. Looks like the Ducks are flying above the rest of the Pac-10 right now.

Meanwhile, Iowa managed to avoid an upset as they beat Indiana 42-24. Ricky Stanzi threw 2 TDs and 5 INTs but the Hawkeyes managed to stage a comeback and actually won quite comfortably. Texas played against Oklahoma State and beat them 41-14. While the Longhorn offense scored 3 TDs, the defense managed to score 2 more thanks to some key INTs. TCU continues it's BCS hopes beating the UNLV Rebels 41-0. 3 TDs were thrown by TCU QB Andy Dalton. Looks like the Horned Frogs may win the Mountain West Conference. BSU keeps pace with the Horned Frogs as a possible BCS team by winning 45-7 over San Jose State. These teams might go down to the wire to decide who is the best Non BCS Team. Well, it has been a Trick for USC and a Treat for the Gators. Wondering if the Alabama Crimson Tide are getting a little nervous.

P.S. I will write post for game 3 of the World Series a bit latter after I eat my sorrow away.

Burnett Wins the Duel Tonight

Yesterday was Cliff Lee dominating the Yankees. Tonight it was AJ Burnett dominating the Phillies. Burnett pitched 7 innings, allowed one ER and and struck out 9. Meanwhile, Mariano Rivera pitched two shut out innings to seal the win f0r the Yankees 3-1. While A-Rod was struck out 3 times last night, Ryan Howard was struck out 4 times tonight. Sucks to be a slugger. Although to be fair, Howard has actually gotten two hits in this series while A-Rod hasn't done a thing yet. The Series is now even going to Philadelphia.

As the series goes to Philly, the Phillies have got to win two of these games at least, otherwise they will be practically done for. It will be Pettite and Hamels pitching game 3. I think Pettite has the edge. Hamels hasn't really been himself and Pettite has actually done well in the postseason. I'm sure the Phillies are happy to just take one from the Yankees while in the Bronx. As for the Yankees, they do have the momentum a bit more but still will have to fight for an edge.

P.S. I am going to have a few spaces down here over the series and reveal a letter every time the Yankees win a game. Here is the first letter.

Cliff Lee Shuts Down Yankees in Game 1

Finally the World Series is here with the Phillies and the Yankees starting it off with game one in the House That Steinbrenner Paid For. The starters for this game were former Indian teammates Cliff Lee for the Phillies and CC Sabathia for the Yankees. The result was a Phillies win. What a performance for both pitchers as CC lasted 7 innings and gave in only 2 runs. Meanwhile Lee went the whole game and allowed one run and struck out ten. That is awesome. He even struck out A-Rod 3 times!!!

Another big player for the Phillies was Chase Utley with two homers. That is big for this team. The rest of the lineup also came through with Ibanez, Victarino and Howard getting a RBI at least. The Phillies now have an advantage in this series leading one game. There are still several to go but this definitely helps the Phillies chances. As for the Yankees, they still have Burnett and Pettite while the Phillies have Pedro and Hamels. Still favorable match ups for the Yankees. Still this win says that the Phillies could win this series.

NBA is Back!!!

Basketball returned today with four games on opening day. One game was the Celtics vs. the Cavaliers. Rasheed Wallace debuted for the Celtics while Shaq debuted for the Cavs. Also Kevin Garnett made a return from injury. The game was played and the Celtics won 95-89 despite 38 points from Lebron James. I have to say the Celtics looked recharged as 26 of the Celtic points were from the bench. Not a bad start for the Celtics.

Now for some predictions: I don't care enough to give a solid prediction. I'll be honest with everyone right now; Basketball is not my favorite sport and I don't follow that much or well. All I know is that I don't like the Lakers. Wait, it's Kobe; I don't like KOBE!!! I like the Lakers when he leaves. Either way I can't give a well scouted pick based on what I know but I will give it a shot. I think the Lakers will win it. DAMN IT!!! They were good last year and they now have Ron Artest. I have heard that Artest is all for himself. Sorry Ron, Kobe outdivas everyone.

P.S. Don't forget to watch the World Series starting tomorrow night and also don't forget to root against the Yankees.

Eagles Pick Apart Redskins

Last week was a embarrassing week for the Eagles as they lost to the Raiders. THE RAIDERS!!! Now that's a game to forget. The Eagles probably practiced a lot harder this week knowing that if they lost to the Redskins, they would the NFC East embarrassment. But for the now, The Redskins still are the Shame of the NFC East. The Eagles beat the Redskins 27-17 and while the Redskins didn't allow a point in the second half, they still looked bad. The offensive line just couldn't hold back the Eagles blitz scheme while the Eagles offense did just enough to secure a solid win.

After 7 weeks in the season, the Redskins have just looked awful. They played 6 games, all which where winnable, and only came away with 2 wins before losing to the Eagles. I honestly think that most of the fault isn't on the players but the way this organization has been run. They can't seem to settle on a consistent offensive pattern what with the changes almost every year to the offensive staff and now they have a "Offensive Consultant" who hasn't been part of a team since 2004? I'm glad they have a bye week because this team needs it the most right now.

New England Wins in London, Vikings Hit Steel Wall, and Bengals Beat Up the Bears (and More)

Week 7 in the NFL came with the highlight being another game in London. I'm tired of these games across the Atlantic. You are wasting a home game of a team while trying to promote a sport overseas that they will never fully accept. The Patriots played the Buccaneers in this London game as the Patriots win 35-7. The Bucs continue their losing ways while the Patriots take firm control over the AFC East at 5-2. Meanwhile back in the USA, the rest of the NFL played. One of the games was the Vikings vs. the Steelers at Heinz Field. Favre didn't throw a TD pass despite throwing 51 passes and over 300 yards. Meanwhile the Steelers did just enough in order to get the win 27-17.

Other good games were played like the Bears Vs. the Bengals. Palmer threw for 5 TDs while Cedric Benson racked up 189 yards and one TD with 37 carries. Cutler on the other hand didn't play so well only making One TD Pass and throwing 3 INTs. Bengals win 45-10. The Saints did go to sunny Miami to play the Dolphins and managed to beat them 46-34. Neither QB played particularly well but the Saints just did better in order to get the win. Apparently 2 of the Saints TDs came by way of Interceptions. The Cowboys had a good day beating the Falcons 37-21. Romo found a little spark he had in week one throwing for 3 TDs and 311 Yards. Also it looked like Miles Austin stood up for Romo getting 6 catches, 171 yards and 2 TDs. Not bad at all. Another good week in the NFL will be capped off tomorrow night with the Eagles vs the Redskins. No play calling for you Zorn.

P.S. I refuse to address the Yankees winning the ALCS in 6 games... even though I technically just addressed it now.

Houston Gives Niners a Problem

The Niners came off the bye this week to play the Houston Texans. This match up presented us with a very winnable game. However, we didn't win. The Niners played horribly in the first half just making bad mistakes and letting them have a 21-0 lead going into Half Time. The second half though was much different. The Niners changed quarterbacks and offensive schemes a bit in order to get 21 second half points. Alex Smith played well in the spread offense getting 3 TD passes, all to Vernon Davis. The Niners had a chance to at least tie it in the end but just couldn't get their act together with some costly mistakes. Final score 24-21 Texans win.

I'm disappointed in the Niners loss but still impressed that they managed to come back this week and make the game interesting. Alex Smith was actually playing well for the most part except that last drive. He showed me he had learned something while in the NFL. However he may just be a spread offense kind of guy. I don't think he is suited for the typical 2 receiver set kind of plays. He may be the guy to go to when we are behind late in the game. As for Michael Crabtree, he did all right for his first game with 5 catches for 56 yards. I hope he will make an immediate impact for the Niners as they need a good receiver and not just Vernon Davis. I hope this loss will show the Niners what they need to work on.

P.S. I don't think Alex Smith will last. We have tried this formula already.

Florida and Alabama Survive, Revenge of USC, and Notre Dame Wins Another Close One

A good day in college football came and went with the top two teams in the nation playing against different teams. Number one Florida played against Miss State. The Bulldogs kept it close for most of the game and just let it go near the end. Gators win 29-19. When I was seeing this game, I started to realize that Tim Tebow probably couldn't play in the NFL as a QB at least. Today he threw 12/22 with 127 yards and 2 INTS. He may work in Miami but that's it. Meanwhile, #2 Alabama played a close one with the Tennessee Volunteers. The Volunteers were close to winning but had another field goal blocked as time expired. Final score 12-10.

As for the other stories in college football, USC got revenge on the team that ruined their season last year: Oregon State. The final score was 42-36. Matt Barkley was 15/25 with 202 yards for 2 TDs and 2 INTs. I still think USC will lose another game this year as they still have to face Oregon and Arizona. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish beat Boston College finally 20-16. This must feel good for the Irish to beat this team after losing 6 straight to them. I have to say I'm glad to see BSU beat Hawaii 54-9. I know it was just Hawaii but I hope this team keeps winning. I need a BCS buster somewhere people.

P.S. I still love Tim Tebow and I think he is still one of the best players in college but the pros are just so much harder.

Cable not Charged, Zorn to Stay, and ALCS Goes Back to the Bronx

The NFL had a couple of interesting stories in the past couple of days. First was the Napa DA will not seek charges against Tom Cable for allegedly hitting one of his assistant head coaches. I don't know the specifics of the incident but this is a event that needs to be put to rest soon. Considering this is a incident that has to do with an NFL organization, the NFL itself has the right to investigate if it sees fit. I doubt, however, that they will find further fault than the Napa DA. Second NFL story is the the VP of the Redskins stating that they will stick with Zorn for the rest of the Year. I think that the situation in Washington is laughable considering that they took play calling duties away from Zorn for the Offense. I admire them for sticking with Zorn but I'm receiving mixed messages from this franchise.

Now for the ALCS in baseball. The Angels won a couple days ago 7-6 to force a game 6 in New York City. I'm happy to see the series continue but I think it will end today with a Yankees win. There is no way that the Angels are winning three straight games against the Yankees as they almost screwed up the win the other night. There is no way the Angels will stay lucky for two more games. Meanwhile, the Phillies wait for the winner to face them in World Series. I hope they get the rest they need in order to play what looks like the Yankees.

Phillies Go Back to the World Series

Last Year, the Phillies beat the Dodgers in the NLCS in five games to win a trip to the World Series. They would go on to win the Series and make the city of Brotherly Love proud. A year has gone by and nothing has changed. The Phillies beat the Dodgers today in game 5 of the NLCS with a final score of 10-4. The Phillies are once again the NL champs for the second year in a row. It seems like the Dodgers' starters were just being beaten early in almost every game. Their Bullpen didn't hold up the fort either in this series.

Now the question for the Phillies is this: Can they repeat as World Series Champions? The answer is no. The Yankees in the meanwhile are ahead 3-1 in the ALCS over the Angels. They practically have this series in the bag (regrettably). A-Rod has finally overcome his yips in the playoffs and is just on a tear. Meanwhile CC Sabathia is pitching on the money right now and almost impossible to beat. The Phillies have the batters but they just don't have the best pitching match ups to win this year. I still think the Yankees are going to win it all.

P.S. Angels please start seeing some wings. I need a miracle.

Vikings Hold On, Saints Beat Giants, and Brady Goes Wild (and more)

The NFL had an exciting week 6. First, the Vikings played the Ravens at the Metrodome. The Ravens came back down 30-17 and took the lead 31-30. The Vikings would score a field goal to take the lead again and and then hold the lead with the Ravens missing their field goal attempt as time expired. Vikings win 33-31. Meanwhile the Saints faced another New York team, this time the Giants. They would beat this New York team as well. Brees threw 4 TDs while his team ran for three more. Final score: 48-27.

Tom Brady finally unleashed his golden arm this week against the Titans. Despite the snow in New England, Brady threw 6 TDs and 38o Yards. Meanwhile the Titans were shutout and go to 0-6 losing to the Pats 59-0. In another game, the Raiders upset the Eagles winning 13-9. HOW DO YOU LOSE TO THE RAIDERS? This is the most disfunctional team in the country and you lose to them. That's sad. However there may be a worse team in the NFL as the Redskins lose to the Chiefs 14-6. I have now lost faith in the Redskins thanks to this loss. The Sunday Night Game had the Falcons beating the Bears 21-14. The Bears really shot themselves in the foot on the last drive with all the penalties. You have to have the other team beat you, not yourselves. A nice week in the NFL overall which will be capped off tomorrow night with the Broncos and Chargers.

Florida Escapes Upset, USC Beat Irish, and Bradford Injured Again

Before the Yankees got lucky with a win over the Angels, there was still a day of College Football. Florida faced unranked Arkansas today in Gainesville. The Gators would be behind entering the half 10-3 but fought back and managed to score the Game winning field goal leaving Nine seconds left to play. Final Score is 23-20. Pretty impressive for Arkansas though keeping up with the best team in the nation. Meanwhile, USC and Notre Dame played yesterday with Matt Barkley the freshman prevailing over the Irish. The Irish did make a good comeback attempt but just couldn't score as time expired. After throwing 380 yards and 2 TD passes, Barkley may be the best Freshman in college.

Oklahoma played Texas as well but it seemed like week one again. Sam Bradford would be hit to the ground on his throwing shoulder and be injured once again. This has been a crappy year for Bradford. This second injury may hurt his chances of a high pick if he enters the NFL Draft in 2010. The Sooners would lose 16-13 to the Texas Longhorns. Meanwhile Alabama may have help their chances for being Number one as they beat number 22 South Carolina, 20-6. It seems like Alabama may have a strong enough team all around for a chance at a National Title. It seems like another team may have been eliminated from the Title hunt as Virginia Tech loses their second game of the year. Georgia Tech beat them 28-23. I was amazed that they were still number 4 going into this week. They will probably go back at least 10 spots.

Dodgers Even Series, Yankees Win First Game of Theirs

Baseball playoffs continued today as the Dodgers and the Phillies played a pitchers duel in LA. Pedro Martinez and Vicente Padilla both pitched an amazing game today. Pedro pitched 7 shut out innings while Padilla only allowed one run while striking out 6. I was proud of these pitchers as they were able to keep both of their teams in the game. However the Phillies allowed the go ahead run on a walk. A WALK!!! Horrible way to give up a game especially after Pedro's amazing start. The series is now tied 1-1 as they go back to Philadelphia.

The Angels and the Yankees would start their series in the Bronx despite the weather threat from mother nature. CC Sabathia had a good start allowing one run and striking out 7 in 8 innings. The Yankees did well against Lackey as they scored four runs off him. They would win 4-1. Yankees now have a one game lead as they look to return to the World Series. I hope the Angels pick it up. They need at least one win before going home to LA (Anaheim). Come on Angels please!!!

NLCS Begins with Phillies Winning

Last year's NLCS had the exact same teams as this year's NLCS: Phillies and Dodgers. Last Year, the Phillies would win the series in 5 games and went on to win the World Series. This year the Dodgers improved a little more as they obtained home field advantage this time around. Both had relatively short series' in the NLDS and both sides are well rested for the rematch. Various sports analysts has been talking about the Dodgers Bullpen while also talking about a big game for Cole Hamels in game 1.

Game One's Result: Phillies win 8-6. I was actually proud of Kershaw as he was holding his own for while out there. Then the fifth inning came and the Phillies trampled him with 5 runs including a 3-run shot from Carlos Ruiz. The Dodgers did seem to keep it close however as they scored 3 runs in the fifth (on top of a run scored earlier), but the Phillies just outmatched them. As for the hyping, one dodgers reliever (George Sherill) allowed another 3-run shot, this time from Ibanez. Cole Hamels didn't throw a great game as he allowed 4 runs in 5 1/3 innings. Game two looks to be just as good as some trained veterans face: Pedro Martinez for the Phillies and Vicente Padilla for the Dodgers. GO PEDRO.

P.S. Don't really care who wins but I really like Pedro.

Rams Being Rushed

In the last week, Rush Limbaugh has made a bid to buy the St Louis Rams. Everyone knows that Rush Limbaugh is a controversial (and yet popular) radio talk show host and this has gotten quite a bit of attention from the sports world and even in the regular news broadcasts. This conservative voice seems to have upset the NFL in the past by making comments about Donovan McNabb and comparing the NFL to street gangs. Roger Goodell has already commented on this matter saying "I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about" and Jim Irsay, owner of the Colts, says he would not approve Rush being an NFL owner.

Now my feelings on the Issue: Rush, stay out of St. Louis. Rush Limbaugh is a guy for politics and not sports management. Rush owning a team would upset a lot of people and players. The NFL is a place of sports and needs to keep the big political people out of it. I would think less of the NFL in general if they allow this deal to take place. However, I'm getting the vibe the NFL won't allow this buy.

P.S. Celebrities please stop buying into the Dolphins. That means you J. LO.

Other Things That Happened Last Weekend

While the NFL is what I watched the most, there were still other things that happened this weekend that I will address. First, Florida Beat LSU this weekend 13-3 as Tim Tebow did play despite the concussion received two weeks ago. He played well and ran hard as usual to get his team the win. Sam Bradford made his return this week as the Sooners beat Baylor 33-7. He threw a TD pass and threw for 389 Yards. Another big story for College Football is Alabama continuing their dominance going 6-0 as they beat Ole Miss 22-3. Alabama and Florida are right now the best teams in all of College football and they are both SEC teams.

In other sports we go to Football (soccer) as the USA has clinched a spot in the World Cup next year in South Africa as they beat Honduras 3-2. The USA has earned this spot especially after how they played in the Confederations Cup this last summer and hope they go far into the tournament next year. In baseball, the ALCS and NLCS teams are set with the Phillies being the last team to advance by beating the Rockies yesterday 5-4. The ALCS will have the Angels Vs. the Yankees and the NLCS will have the Phillies vs the Dodgers. I think this will be a good LCS round especially the NLCS as it is a rematch from last year.

P.S. Mexico also clinched a spot in the World Cup. Just throwing that out there.

Student Beat the Master, Wildcat Wins, and McNabb Back (and More)

Very exciting week 5 in the NFL everybody as Josh McDaniels took on his old mentor Bill Belichick and won the game in overtime 20-17 in Denver. What a game as Kyle Orton kept his composure long enough to get the win. Another good game was the Monday Night game with the Jets and Dolphins in Miami. The Dolphins used the wildcat effectively tonight as they won the game 31-27 scoring the winning TD in the Wildcat leaving only 6 seconds left for the Jets. Going back to Sunday was the return of Donovan McNabb after taking that hit in the back in week one. He threw 16-21 for 264 YDS and 3 TD passes in the win over Tampa Bay 33-14.

Other stories include the Titans still not winning a game as they lose to the Colts 31-9. Manning was superb again throwing for 3 TD passes and just over 300 yards. The Panthers finally get into the win column as they beat the Redskins 20-17. Still not impressive as they win against a very questionable Redskins team. The Bengals continue to impress the country as they beat the Ravens and score the winning TD with less than a minute to go. I think the Bengals are back to their winning ways as they are the best team in AFC North at the moment. Also Favre and the Vikings continue their dominance going 5-0 on the year as they beat the Rams 38-10. Watch out for the Vikings as they might be the team to beat in the entire NFC.

Yesterday Was a Disaster!!!

Man yesterday really sucked for me personally. First the Red Sox got swept away by the Angels in the ALDS. The Angels finally get by Boston leaving me depressed. Second was the Yankees sweeping the Twins. DAMN IT!!! Now A-Rod is good in October? "Just Great." Third and Final bad thing was the 49ers getting slaughtered by the Falcons. The Niners had a good defense going into to this game that really impressed me and the NFL and they go out yesterday and just fall apart. Just when I thought they could stand against anyone.

Well this moment sucks but we need to look at the bright side in life. The Niners just lost one game and are still 3-2 on the year. Plus they have a bye week now which gives them time to get the newly signed Michael Crabtree used to the team's offense. Also I'm pretty sure that Singletary will yell at his defense until his voice is horse. As for the Red Sox, there is always next season. Sure Jason Bay is up for free agency but this team may need to get someone else besides him. Sure he is good at certain times but we need someone who is consistent. Then again the offense does need a lot of work. As for the Yankees... AH CRAP!!! THERE IS NO GOOD NEWS THERE!!!

P.S. While I admit that these stories are things that I don't look forward to comment on, I have had Internet connection troubles for the past week or so. Please forgive my time delay for postings.

P.P.S. As much as I hate the Angels right now, I'm rooting for them to win in the ALCS. PLEASE ANYONE BUT THE YANKEES!!!

Red Sox in Trouble, Yankees Ahead and the Cardinals Are Out!!!

The MLB playoffs have been a little boring for me anyway. The Yankees are ahead of the Twins 2 games to none thanks to A-Rod's homer in the ninth and the bad call from the umps in extras of game 2. Tough way to lose a ballgame. The Red Sox seem worse than the Twins right now as they only scored one run in their two playoff games. They are behind 2 games to none as they go back to Boston. The Angels look like they are headed to play the Yankees (probably) in the ALCS.

Meanwhile the NL playoffs have been a little different. The Dodgers played the Cardinals today being in front 2 games to none in the series. The Dodgers would win 5-1 today as the Cardinals shockingly got swept out of the playoffs. I'm very disappointed in the Cardinals as they had a couple of the best Pitchers in baseball as they couldn't get one win against the Dodgers. The Phillies and the Rockies are tied at a game a piece as they didn't play today because of the weather. This series might be the most exciting in all of the first round. Well see what happens in Colorado tomorrow night.

Home Teams Win

The playoffs were under way yesterday with all the Home teams winning their games. The Phillies beat the Rockies 5-1, Yankees beat the Twins 7-2, and the Dodgers beat the Cardinals 5-3. Nice first day of the postseason I guess. Cliff Lee was on track with a complete game only alllowing one run. Also a miracle happened today: CC Sabathia pitched a good game in the playoffs. He allowed 2 runs (one earned) in 6 2/3 innings. He also picked up the win. In the last game with the Dodgers win, neither starter performed well but the Dodger bullpen held back the Cardinals long enough to win.

Tomorrow the Red Sox and the Angels start their series and the Rockies-Phillies and Cardinals-Dodgers continue theirs. The Red Sox will start Lester while the Angels start Lackey. Oh boy, another nervous postseason.

Playoffs Start with the Twins Getting In

As exciting as it was for the Twins to win last night at home, I don't really like it more than that. They now have to face the Yankees and I always saw the Tigers as the better team to take them on. I don't see a dominant pitcher on the Twins but I see Verlander on the Tigers. I still think the Tigers would lose as well but I just think they have a better shot of an upset.

The Playoffs did start for baseball today. The Phillies already won their game with Cliff Lee leading the charge with 9 innings pitched allowing one run in a 5-1 win over the Rockies. Meanwhile the Yankees and the Twins are already playing with the score tied at two in the Bronx. The Dodgers and the Cardinals start latter tonight and the Red Sox start their series against the Angels tomorrow. My Prediction time: Yanks will regrettably win the whole thing. Again I hate the Yankees but I'm a pessimist more than a optimist. I see the Yankees as the most dominant team in the Majors and the likely candidate to win the World Series. I think they will meet the Cardinals in the Series with Carpenter and Pujols. I hope the Postseason will be exciting enough to keep our attention.

P.S. Lords of Fate I beg of you: ANYBODY BUT THE YANKEES!!!

week 4: Revenge of the Favre

Yesterday was the highly anticipated game between the Vikings and the Packers with Favre playing against his old team. Everyone knows the story that Favre "retired" and then threw a hissy fit when they didn't want him back a month before the last season began. They would trade him to the Jets and eventually Favre would "retire" again and then comeback signing with the Vikings after the Jets released him in the off season. Now Favre has a chance to stick it to his old team for getting rid of him even though it was mainly his antics that caused the move.

The Result: Favre made the Packers pay for his own faults. The Vikings would win 30-23. Favre threw for 3 TDs and threw no INTs. He threw over %75 in his passing attempts and for 271 yards. Rodgers on the other had 2 TD throws and one INT. Favre had great blocking while Rodgers was blitzed effectively causing his effectiveness to go down. Favre just made his old team feel silly out there. What was impressive was he did it without much run support. In fact neither side had over a 100 yards rushing. I hope Favre enjoyed this win because round 2 may be a lot different when he visits Green Bay.

Sanchez Falls Apart, Pats Shoot Down Ravens, Broncos Still Good (and More)

Two of the three biggest games of the week happened yesterday with the first being the Jets vs. Saints. Sanchez got blown to pieces allowing 3 INTS (one for a TD going 99 yds) and a fumble in their own endzone that was recovered for a Saints TD. Sanchez just couldn't get a breather from this Saints defense. Final Score was 24-10. Next game was the Patriots vs. the Ravens in Gillette Stadium. The Pats would win with Brady getting a TD pass and run at the goalline while Flacco and the Ravens just fell short. Final score was 27-21. The last of the Three big games is tomorrow when Favre (and Vikings) play against the Packers. The game will be tonight and may be the most watched game of the week or even the year.

Other games also happened in week 4. Both Mannings win their respective games pushing both their teams to 4-0. The Titans need to change their name as they are now 0-4 losing to Jaguars 37-17. David Garrard threw 3 TDS for the Jaguars while Collins only threw one TD for the Titans and 2 INTS. The Broncos continue to shock the league going 4-0 beating the Cowboys 17-10. What a TD catch from Brandon Marshall for the winning score going 51 yards and a nice defensive stand for the Broncos near their end zone. The Steelers avoid a comeback from the Chargers late in the game as they win 38-28. The Bears beat the Lions 48-24 as Cutler threw 2 TDs and ran for one TD. Another good Sunday with a great Monday night game on the way.

P.S. I know there were other games this week but I can only care so much (HA HA HA).

49ers Shut Out the Rams

After losing the close game to the Vikings last week (Favre!!!), I was still confident the Niners would rebound the following week, especially because they would face the 0-3 Rams. Last year they were 2-14 and only the Lions were worse as they didn't even win a game. The game came and it was a slow first half with only a TD from McKillop on a fumble in the endzone. The Second Half came and the Niners just unleashed the dogs on the Rams.

Shaun Hill first threw a touchdown to Vernon Davis. Then the Niners would score again with a TD pick for Patrick Willis. Then redemption for Josh Morgan as he caught a 24 yd TD pass from Hill. And lastly a fumble recovery from McDonald on defense for a TD. Very impressive getting two TDS on defensive efforts or just bad offense from the Rams. The Defense was key for the Niners today as they shut out the Rams in the process. They kept Steven Jackson under a hundred yards as he just had 79 yds in 23 carries. While Coffee didn't do much better, Shaun Hill did my making the plays and not turning the ball over. Final score: 35-0.

P.S. I will look at the rest of today's games after the Chargers and Steelers game tonight.

Oh Oh Oklahoma Loses

The Miami Hurricanes had a good season so far until they ran into the Virginia Tech last week losing 31-7. People were thinking they could win a National Title and they blew it. Yesterday the team had a chance for redemption taking on Number 8 Oklahoma who already had a loss losing to BYU in week one. They would fight in a close game in Miami but the Hurricanes would hold on for the win 21-20.

In this win was Jacory Harris throwing 3 TDS but also 2 INTS. Not bad for a Sophomore. Meanwhile the Sooners couldn't play Bradford just yet so they went to Landry Jones who only threw for One TD. With this win, the Hurricanes have revived BCS Bowl hopes and maybe a slim chance for a National Title. Meanwhile the Sooners seem to be done in terms of a repeat appearance for the National Title. It is very sad that they didn't have Bradford to help make their case but that's how the game works.

Still Some Fight in the Central

With only two days left in the Baseball season, every race has been sorted out. Well almost every one. The AL Central has the only race worth looking at with the Tigers and Twins close. If the Tigers skid these next two days, the division could go to the Twins if they win out. The Twins must win tomorrow to keep pace. The Twins won today over the Royals 10-7 while the Tigers lost to the White Sox 8-0. With this happening, the Twins are only one game back with two games to play.

Though it does not look good for the Twins for tomorrow as they have to face Zack Greinke who currently has the MLB ERA Best at 2.06 and fourth in the Majors in strikeouts at 237. The good thing is that it is still the Royals and will probably still be a close game. Meanwhile the Tigers only have to face Freddy Garcia of the White Sox who is 2-4 with a 4.78 ERA. But the Tigers do put Alfredo Figaro on the mound who is 2-1 with a 5.74 ERA. Though neither pitcher has pitched the whole season, I think the White Sox have the edge with Freddy Garcia having more experience. Whoever wins the division in the end, I hope it will be a photo finish (figuratively).

2016 Olympics to Party in Rio

Today the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced there host city for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Chicago was one of the cities that was a candidate. In order to garner more support for the games in Chicago, Oprah and the Obamas went to Copenhagen to try and sway the committee to vote for their city. Other than Chicago, the other cities that were up for hosting the games were Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, and Madrid.

The winner is... Rio De Janeiro. Finally a reason to party in Rio. It is sad that USA wouldn't be hosting the games but then I heard something that made me happy that Rio got the bid. This is apparently going to be the first Olympics ever in South America. I think it is a little weird that the continent has never hosted before. Everyone else has. So congratulations to them and I hope the USA will get the next one.

P.S. Come to think of it, has there ever been an Olympic games in Africa? I don't think so.

Ovechkin Starts Season with a Bang and Predictions

The NHL Season started yesterday with four games played. One of those games had the Capitals playing against the Bruins. The Capitals would win with Alexander Ovechkin getting 2 goals and an assist in a 4-1 victory. Looks like the MVP is off to a great start to repeat for the Hart trophy. I'm sure he would like to lift the Stanley Cup more however. Three other games were played as well with Montreal beating Toronto 4-3 in OT, Calgary beating Vancouver 5-3 and Colorado beating San Jose 5-2.

The big question for the season is who will hoist the Stanley cup in June of 2010. My home team, the Sharks, have not proven to me they can win big once in the postseason. I hope they will win but I only see a playoff appearance in sight. I do see the Capitals as a contender as they seem to get closer every year but they need more than Ovechkin to get there. Detroit and Pittsburgh are also contenders seeing that they were the last two Stanley Cup winners. I kind of want a third match up between the two in the Stanley Cup Finals as a tie breaker for the last two years. Honestly I think one of these two teams wins the Cup again. Not necessarily in a Third straight match up but just one of them winning the Cup. If I had to pick one, I guess Detroit.

MLB Playoffs Coming Up

Over the past week and a half, the Playoff picture has been set for October. The NL East has been taken by the Phillies even though they have no dominant closer unlike last year's World Series run. The Cardinals have clinched the NL central division with the strength of Albert Pujols. The NL West is likely to go to the Dodgers with a 2.5 game lead over the Rockies. Lastly the Rockies will probably win the Wild Card having at least a four game lead over everyone else.

The AL has been a bit different. The AL Central has come down to this week but the winner looks to be the Tigers permitting the Twins don't magically come back. The AL East has been taken by the ever dominant Yankees (Damn Them). The AL West is once again taken by the Angels who have not forgotten Nick Aidenhart in their celebration. How Sweet. Lastly, The Red Sox have managed to get the Wild Card despite their recent losses. Not good momentum for going into October.

Baseball seems to be duller than usual this September. Things will definitely heat up once the playoffs arrive next week. Before the Playoffs start, I will examine the match ups and all the team and give my predictions for the 2009 MLB Postseason. But that will be next week. In the meantime, back to football.
