Yes, the mean joke continues.
The Chris Paul saga is over. Arguably one of the biggest trade stories of All Time has just ended. Of course this is up there with the biggest because of the all the controversy originally supplied by the NBA. The League denied a trade that would've sent Paul to the Lakers because of the other owners' objections. Apparently that complaint didn't transfer over to the "Other" LA team. I looked it up and the Los Angeles "Clippers" will get Chris Paul in exchange for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, and a few draft picks which include Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first round draft pick. My guess is that the Clippers came across that pick sometime in the past. The 26 year old Chris Paul is now a Clipper.
Well, the story is over. Paul joins Blake Griffin in LA to try and fill the Staples Center for some Clippers' games. They seem to have enough star power to at least do that. Bold move for the Clippers as they are going all in to try and see if they can become a playoff powerhouse. The League, of course, still has some egg on their faces for blocking the trade to the Lakers but at least they won't have an angry Chris Paul that wants to sue them. Perhaps this team can finally get back to the postseason.
As for how far they will go if they do make the playoffs, not far. Paul and Griffin will no doubt be a great combo but we'll have to see how good the rest of the team works together for me to be sold on the Clippers.
P.S. Maybe Paul would sue them anyway. True, he ended up in a city he wanted and a arena he wanted. Just ended up in the wrong locker room.
