How long is Tim Tebow going to amaze us? As least for one more week. Tebow and Broncos faced the Bears in Denver and, like always, it seemed like Tebow wasn't that good early on. The Bears had a 10-0 lead going into the final minutes of the 4th quarter but it wasn't over yet. Tim Tebow managed to lead his team down the field for a TD pass to Demaryius Thomas with 2:08 left. After a 3 and out for the Bears, the Broncos got it back and managed to just get close enough for Matt Prater to hit the game tying FG from 59 yards out to send the game into OT. In OT, the Broncos got the ball thanks to a fumble and get it close enough for Matt Prater again. He hits another 50+ yarder (51) this time to win the game, 13-10, in OT. The Broncos are now 7-1 with Tebow at the helm and are 8-5 with sole possession of 1st place in the AFC West.
Why do they have sole possession of the AFC West? The Raiders faced the Packers, that's why. This wasn't even a game as it was 31-0 at the half. Packers win, of course, 46-16. While the Broncos are hot under Tebow, the Raiders are more even temperature with Palmer. 3-3 are the Silver and Black with him leading the way. Meanwhile, the Packers are still undefeated at 13-0 and can clinch home field advantage in the playoffs by beating the Chiefs next week. Of course the whole sports world has something else in mind regarding the Packers.
In the other games around the NFL, the Giants manage a comeback win against the Cowboys and end their 4 game skid with a win in Dallas, 37-34. A time out called by Coughlin negates a FG by Bailey which sets up for a blocked FG by Jason Pierre-Paul to prevent OT. Both Giants and the Cowboys are 7-6 in the NFC East and face each other in the Final week of the season. Tom Brady may have had words with a coach on the sideline but the Pats won anyway over the Redskins, 34-27. Rob Gronkowski sets a NFL TD receptions record for tight ends as he now has 15 on the season. The Saints managed to hold off the Titans, 22-17, and have clinched a playoff spot. Meanwhile, the Falcons comeback from a 16 point deficit at halftime and beat the Panthers, 31-23. This keeps them as a frontrunner in the Wild Card bidding and still in the hunt for the NFC South should the Saints start to slip up.
I must say a special congratulations to the Houston Texans who won their game against the Bengals last night thanks to TJ Yates, their third string QB who threw a TD pass with 2 seconds left to give the Texans the win, 20-19. This win gives the AFC South title to the Texans and a trip to their first ever postseason. Their tenth season ever is their finest to date.
