Talk about a lapse in judgement.
It was just last month that Ryan Braun was announced as the NL MVP and everyone was praising him for his abilities. This month already has a different tone with Braun. It was recently revealed that Ryan Braun has tested positive for PEDs. Although this is new information to the sports world, this is old news for Ryan Braun. Braun was reportedly told of the test results back in late October, before he was named MVP (though after the voting process). The reason it has taken so long to go public is that Braun is currently fighting the test results through arbitration. Of course if the results stand, Braun faces a 50 game suspension to start the 2012 season.
The new era of baseball has come and a younger player has been caught using PEDs. And it's a reigning MVP player. This kind of thing breaks the heart of anyone who thought the really good players are clean now. Of course there is a possibility (small) that the test was flawed which is what the Braun camp is arguing. I hope it is wrong just because we need a clean player for the future. However, seeing how these denials have worked out in the past, Braun is most likely guilty.
It's a shame to see baseball's shameful past made present once more. I'm sure that less and less players are using PEDs nowadays (I blissfully hope) but whenever another star is brought down it makes you think that culture and part of the game is still there.
