Sparano and Haley are Fired

Like every season in recent NFL history, some coaches get fired. Jack Del Rio was already fired a couple of weeks ago from the Jaguars. Today saw two more coaches join Del Rio in the unemployment line. First, Todd Haley of the Chiefs was fired as the Chiefs are currently 5-8 and out of the playoff picture after claiming the AFC West last season at 10-6. The second firing was in Miami where the Dolphins showed Tony Sparano the door as his Dolphins were 4-9. Despite some success within the past month and a half, Sparano was let go.

I feel sorry for both coaches but perhaps a bit more for Tony Sparano. Sparano might as well been fired last year as the Dolphins were shopping for a new head coach. Sparano ultimately stayed on knowing that he had no confidence from above despite what the Dolphins organization said. As for Haley, he was dealt quite a few blows this year. Jamaal Charles was gone at the starting line later followed by Matt Cassel in mid season. Those losses are hard to coach around.

It would be nice to see if these coaches ever get another chance in the NFL. I would've like to see what Sparano would do with a team fully behind him and what Haley would do with healthy stars. Maybe these questions will be answered sometime in the future but not likely any time soon.
