Ray Lewis to Retire After Season

Looks like the New Year's resolution of Ray Lewis involves retirement.

The great career of Ray Lewis is coming to an end. One of the greatest defensive players of all time will retire after this season ends. Ray Lewis has told his team "this will be my last ride." It is still uncertain whether or not Ray Lewis will play in this Sunday against the Colts in a wild card which might be his last chance to play in front of the Baltimore crowd.

After 17 seasons in the NFL, the 13 time pro bowler will hang up the cleats. In hindsight, it's now a real shame that torn triceps have kept him out for most of the season. While the team will certainly want to try to give Ray a parting Super Bowl ring before he leaves them, Baltimore hasn't been playing well heading into these playoffs losing 4 of their last 5 games (though the last one didn't really mean anything to them).

Whether Ray Lewis plays or not Sunday, this upcoming Wild Card game will certainly turn into part appreciation night for all he has lead the team through over the last 17 years including a Super Bowl back in January of 2001.
