Kurt Warner: A True Underdog Career

Kurt Warner, age 38, is retiring from Football after 12 Seasons in the NFL. He was first known not as a NFL QB, but as an Arena Football League QB as he played in the league for 3 seasons and then one season in NFL Europe. He finally got in the NFL in 1998 at 27 years young and the next year won the Superbowl for the Rams. He would get them to another Superbowl but they would lose to the Pats. He would leave the team and try his luck with the Giants but Eli Manning would become the starter there. He then went to Arizona where he helped the Cardinals get to a Superbowl where they would lose to the Steelers. Now Kurt closes this Storybook career as one of only two guys in NFL history to lead two different teams to the Superbowl.

Now the big question that many will ask in a few years: Is Kurt Warner a Hall of Famer? He has thrown 32,344 yards in his career along with 208 TDS in which he has thrown over a hundred TDs for two different teams, which has only been done by Fran Tarkenton until now. He has won one Superbowl while getting to 3 of them. He also finishes his career with a 93.7 passer rating which is 5th best all time. I think he should get in. If not for these accomplishments but for the fact that he had to work outside the NFL to get a shot and then to have this kind of success. Kurt Warner was a True Underdog that could not be held down.

P.S. While I will miss Kurt Warner in the NFL, I'm glad he is gone (at least from Arizona). The 49ers may be the favorite in the NFC West now that Arizona may have to rely on Matt Leinart.
