Today the identity of another Captain Obvious is revealed. My favorite so far is Orlando Bloom in a movie role. But today's captain is Mark McGwire as he finally admits that he used steroids when he was playing baseball especially when he had the 70 homers in 1998. McGwire has not commented in his steroid involvement until now. He has admitted his guilt and said it was a mistake and he wished he would've never taken them.
The obvious thing is that everyone already knew he was taking steroids by just looking at the guy's big muscles. However this is a huge step for McGwire as he may have set an example for other steroid users to come forward, admit their guilt, and apologize to the game. While I do see some sincerity in this story, this apology is a LITTLE late and might be a move for McGwire's Hall of Fame chances. But then that is just the cynic in me talking.
One of the biggest names of the steroid era has admitted his guilt. Will another person follow his lead? Maybe Bonds when he is up for the Hall of Fame.
