Auburn Wins the Illegitimate National Title

Okay, I have been critical of this game every year, especially with the fact of the controversy around with Cam Newton and the NCAA. But I will try and work through my bias opinion on this whole situation until the end of this post.

The BCS National Title Game was played last night between the Auburn Tigers and the Oregon Ducks. Much attention was given to these two offensive powerhouses leading up to this game but it seemed a defensive volley all around. Auburn once again depended on Cam Newton to lead the way and he did just that with 265 passing yards, 64 rushing yards, and 2 passing TDs. The Tigers had the lead 19-11 for the longest time and looked like the game was going to end with that score until the Ducks finally managed to tie it with a huge TD pass to LaMichael James from Darron Thomas and then a successful 2 point conversion. There was 2:33 left on the clock which gave Auburn enough time for one final drive. They went all the way inside the one yard line and kicked the game winning field goal by Wes Byrum as time expired. Tigers win, 22-19, and claim their first National Title since 1957.

It has been quite a year for Auburn and quite college career for Cam Newton. He won a National Title last year on the JC level and has another one now at the top level that greedy, should-be-ineligible-if-not-for-the-greedier-NCAA bastard. Sigh. Almost made it to the end.

P.S. And Yes, it is still the Illegitimate National Title. WE WANT PLAYOFFS!!!
