These past couple of days have been really weird around Ann Arbor. First there was a report that Michigan had fired Rich Rodriguez and the media began speculating (including myself) about who would take over as head coach there. Then later that day Michigan denied any such report and said they were going to meet with Rich Rod today. After that meeting, Dave Brandon, the Athletic Director of the university, announced that Rich Rod was now fired. I wonder why they just couldn't let the old report stand.
Whatever the case, Rich Rod has been voted out of the Big House. Perhaps he was initially fired but Michigan began to rethink there when they heard that Jim Harbaugh would most likely turn down the Michigan job if offered. Sounds plausible. Then why fire him now? True he has had a lousy record while there but there seems to be no one good to replace him. The Harbaugh rumors seem true as Brandon said "I personally believe that Jim Harbaugh is headed to the NFL, that's my opinion." That also seems true as Harbaugh has an upcoming meeting with the 49ers. It doesn't look like anyone wants to coach that program anymore even though it has had a proud football past. Sure someone will take the job but it will not likely be anyone Michigan has first on there list.
