The 2011 NFL Season Starts Now? Or Does It?

The Packers have won the Super Bowl. Let the 2011 season begin. Okay, will just prepare for it with a bunch of mini camps and overly hyped off season news.

With the last game played, the off season now begins for 32 teams looking to improve their franchises somehow. The Draft is coming up in late April with free agency before that. Still, there is a larger issue that needs to be settled first; the new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Roger Goodell has stated they are looking to get a deal done soon and things seemed to have calmed down. True the playoffs were happening and the league doesn't want any foul attention during that time so there could be some more negative feelings shown. The 18 game schedule seems to be on the way in as the players seem to have no considerable leverage. Still, negotiations could break down but the risk of that happening seems minimal. The NFLPA still remembers the way the 1987 strike went. There won't be any replacement teams or players if there is a lockout but the owners know they will outlast the players in the long haul.

While the Draft and Free Agency will be big news indeed, the biggest off season news will be the CBA talks and the eventual new deal. Lets see what each side gets.
