Where is Melo Going?

As All Star Weekend had just arrived in the NBA, trade rumors about Carmelo Antony are still circulating. Today revealed a deal that would send Melo to the Nets (YEAH, THEY'RE BACK IN IT) as part of a huge team swap between the two franchises including 4 first round draft picks from the Nets. The two sides have actually have come to a tentative agreement and it would become final if Melo would agree to a 3 year, $65 millions contract extension with the Nets. Mikhail Prokhorov actually said he was going to sit down with Melo but the Knicks seemed to have gotten to him first hoping to sway a deal out of him and eventually the Nuggets.

LA seems to be out of the discussions while the Nets are back into the trade talks? That's a lot to give up for Carmelo Anthony, especially the draft picks. The Nets won't get any closer to a playoff run with Melo considering they would be trading away Devin Harris and Derrick Favors in this deal. He may be a good building block but they are trading half their future just to get this guy. A huge risk for the Nets any way you put. As for the Nuggets, no wonder they want an agreement. Unless the Knicks put down a better offer, this is a huge deal. Potential stars coming to the team and 4 first round draft picks. You won't win the west with Melo, anyway. Might as well rebuild.

That trade deadline is next Thursday at 3 PM Eastern. I wonder if Melo could switch sides by the All Star Game?

P.S. My first Internet Sports Khan radio show was yesterday and it was pretty good. Still learning how to work the switchboard but it's very fun. Remember to tune in next Thursday at 2 PM Pacific at ksunradio.com... Pretty Good. Also be sure to check out the other fine programs at KSUN.
