In the past, LA has tried Pro Football with the inevitability of rejecting it. The Raiders and the Rams had stints in the area with both teams eventually moving out. The Chargers were even there for their first season ever but then moved to San Diego the following year. But the city has not given up on a Permanent NFL team, however. There have been talks of a new stadium to try and attract an NFL Franchise to move to LA. They even have sold the naming rights to Farmers Insurance for $700 Million for over 30 years.
By the sound of it, the stadium looks like it will be built. They just a need a team and they will be set. The Jaguars look like a potential mover. So does the Vikings especially since their old stadium was just sacked by a pile of snow. Sounds perfect really. The Lakers moved from Minneapolis to LA about 50 years ago. Didn't have to change their name either. Could you imagine the LA Vikings? If the move happens, they will probably rename the team out of respect for the old city that they are ditching.
Of course someone will bite at the LA Poisonous apple one year. Who will it be, nobody knows. To the fans out there, if you don't want to lose your team, go to some games.
P.S. No, the NFL won't create a new franchise just for them. 32 is enough.
