Just over a year ago, Stephen Strasburg had Tommy John Surgery and was told he would not be able to play for 12-18 months. The hype around him had died leaving nothing to look forward to if you were a Nats fan. Until now. Stephen Strasburg was making a series of rehab starts dating back a few weeks with speculation that he might start before the season is over. Debate then started on whether or not they were rushing Strasburg back to the mound for no reason. Whatever the right decision was, Strasburg went through the minors with relative ease. He was now being called back to the show.
Last night, Stephen Strasburg made his return to the Washington Nationals and at home. The Phenom came in knowing he was going to get a limited amount of pitches and pitched superbly. 56 pitches in 5 innings pitched for 4 K's, 2 hits allowed, no walks, and no runs allowed. His high 90's fastball was back and he was dominate. The Nationals still lost the game, however, to the Dodgers thanks to the bullpen, 7-3. The outcome of the game itself is not important to DC. What's important is Strasburg and how he did and he did great.
