Ah the lottery. That time of the week where Americans watch on as they hope that there fortunes will change for the better only to realize that nothing has change. What a way to mock that analogy than with the Charlotte Bobcats.
The Bobcats organization has just tanked this season in an effort to get better odds for the NBA Draft Lottery. They have been so bad that some have even started to suggest that the better college teams might be able to beat them in a game. It all led to last night where they would wait to see if they got the number one pick. They had a 25% chance of getting that number one pick. They needed better odds or it not to be fixed. The Bobcats got the number 2 pick while the New Orleans Hornets got the number 1 overall pick and basically the rights to Anthony Davis. The rest of the top five are the Wizards, the Cavaliers, and the Kings in that order.
A new owner and now the number one draft pick for the Hornets. It's what this team needed considering that Chris Paul left them. A big man like Anthony Davis will take time to develop but it's a great advertising point for next season. The Bobcats have to be disappointed to not have the number one pick but that's how the "rigged" system works. I guess it will be another season of tanking for MJ's team.
The draft itself will be on June 28th. Playoffs until then.
