Wild Weekend at Staples Center Ends with Clippers Getting Eliminated

It was a fun weekend at the Staples Center as it was buzzing day in and day out. Five games were played at the Center over this last weekend. 4 of them were basketball games and one was a hockey game. This last day was a bit tricky as the first game was a hockey game and second a basketball game. The hockey game featured the Kings trying to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals. They failed as the Coyotes actually played a good game and got the win, 2-0. The series is now 3-1 in favor of the Kings as it heads back to Phoenix. Now the Kings have to try and clinch the spot in the desert rather than at home.

The Second Game was the Spurs looking to complete the sweep over the Clippers. The Clippers just managed to get by the Grizzlies but just couldn't seem to find a break against the Spurs. Last night was no different. The Spurs continued to look like the best team in the postseason. Tim Duncan scored 21 himself as five other Spurs players got double digits in points, three of them off the bench. Despite this, the Clippers had a couple chances to tie or take the lead at the end but failed. Spurs win, 102-99, and take the series in a 4-0 sweep. Spurs now await the Thunder or the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

A lot of action at the Staples Center is over and I hope the grounds crews get some overtime with all that has been happening. It looks like, however, that this kind of weekend won't happen again soon. The Kings look like they will move on but the Clippers are out and the Lakers seem to be right behind them. There might be a title for the Staples Center but it's not likely in Basketball.
