The Giants have been playing behind so far this season trying to catch the Dodgers. Winning this series against the Dodgers would help that cause very much. Getting the sweep would accomplish it. The Giants shut them out for games 1 and 2 and game 3 was yesterday with Tim Lincecum on the mound. Now Timmy is usually a plus out there but so far this season he has been a bust. He and Zito seemed to have switched places up till now. Timmy, however, didn't disappoint and was back to his old self. He played 7 innings, no runs allowed, 8 K's, 2 BB, and 4 hits allowed. He even made a nice play at the plate. The Giants would scrap a few runs in the 3rd and 5th inning and win the game, 3-0.
The Giants sweep the Dodgers and are now tied for first place in the NL West. Still a long way to go in the season and LA didn't have Matt Kemp available but the fact that we swept the Dodgers and shut them out the entire series is a good sign. A great sign considering that Timmy delivered in one of the games. Perhaps this will finally be the turning point that Giants fans have waited for with Lincecum. It was his first win in 11 starts. Either way, the Giants now share the top spot in the division and hope to stay there knocking off the Dodgers a bit further down the road.
