Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals was last night and this was not more of the same we saw in the first two games of this series. This time the Devils didn't make a comeback while the Kings kept their skates on the jugular.
After fighting off a 5 on 3 penalty kill in the first period, the Kings struck twice in the 2nd. Alec Martinez forced a goal for the Kings by Martin Brodeur and then Anze Kopitar scored a nice goal after some nifty passing from the Kings. The 3rd period saw the series' first 2 power play goals for either side. First one from Jeff Carter and then the second by Justin Williams. Meanwhile, Jonathan Quick made amazing save after amazing save for the Kings. LA wins, 4-0, in the Staples Center and take a 3-0 series lead.
The Kings just owned this game with amazing teamwork and brilliant goal tending. The Devils had their chances and power plays but still couldn't get any goal. Quick was just too good and the defense was played nicely around him. It's hard to not call this series over but the Devils will try and survive. Game 4 will be Wednesday.
