Didn't I say that the Heat would get to the finals after Derrick Rose got injured? Sure, it was a bit more shaky than I thought it would go but they made it, didn't they?
Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals was last night and the Celtics and Heat fought it out to decide who would face the Thunder of the midwest. It was a nice game to watch as the Celtics actually showed up for this game. They even had a lead at half time. Miami came out of the half, however, with a new source of "Heat" under them that just took over the game. The Celtics were able to keep up for a while but by the final minutes of the game they were simply exhausted. The Heat win the game, 101-88, and a trip to the Finals.
The Heat came through in the end and just put the old folks in their place: just down the street by the beach. The Celtics can't pull off the upset and now the Big Three in Boston might just break up without a 2nd title. It's a pity that this era in Celtic basketball ends with one title. Let's face it: they are done as a trio and even if they stick together they are too old to win with the young talent in the NBA.
As for the NBA Finals, the Thunder v. the Heat seem like the perfect match up. Rising stars v. established stars that people hate is just going to drip ratings despite one of the teams being located in OKC. My pick? A Big Three of some sorts.
