Jorge Posada to Hang Up the Catcher's Mask

Jorge Posada has had quite a career for himself as the New York Yankees Catcher. He has been an important piece of the team for a long time but in the last couple of years he has slumped considerably and he was isn't the starting catcher anymore for the team being assigned the DH role and even moved back in the lineup. Jorge was taking his new role not too well and even had a incident during the season. I guess the time for Jorge has come as his skills have dwindled. Jorge Posada is said to be planning to retire. Posada spent his entire career with the Yankees winning 4 World Series titles with the team.

As a Red Sox fan, I wish Posada was still starting for the Yankees. Mainly cause he can't play like he used and a is a shell of his former self but I still wish he was there. Being a bit more serious, Posada had a great career and should be happy with what he was a part of and accomplished with the team. I must say it is nice that Posada should retire now instead of with another team. Better for him to retire as a Yankee for life. You don't see a lot of people play for just one team their entire career and baseball needs more of that (Pujols).

So a good question to ask at the end of every player's career: Is Jorge Posada a Hall of Famer? I honestly don't know. I know he has been a substantial threat as a Yankee being a formidable hitter and making memorable plays both next to home plate and behind it. If I had a vote, I would reluctantly vote for Posada based on the moments he has produced and been a part of.
