Some Baseball News: Timmy and Victor (Mostly)

It's been a lot of football posts lately and before I do another one I thought I would change the pace with some baseball. Heaven help me if I actually post about a simple NBA regular season game without some bigger implications implied.

First thing is that Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants are in salary arbitration and have a difference they need to sort out. The Giants have seemed to offer him $17 million while Timmy wants $21.5 million (which he deserves). Timmy might have had one more loss than his total wins last year, but his ERA was still a 2.74. The Giants have to sort this out with Timmy and make he is on the team for years to come. You know how hard it is to find an ace? You have to keep him, along with Matt Cain.

The other piece of Baseball news is that Victor Martinez might already be done for the year. Really? Players have even reported yet. Apparently he tore his ACL during a off season training workout. Sucks for him. Sucks for the Tigers just as much considering how good a hitter Victor is. This hurts the Tigers chances of getting back to the postseason for sure. He's no Miguel Cabrera but he is still key to that team.

A bit of other news: Cole Hamels and Jacoby Ellsbury have signed one year deals with the Phillies and the Red Sox receptively. Those two basically staying put for now. And also the Rangers have until Wednesday Afternoon to get their deal done with Yu Darvish or he will go back to Japan. They need some pitching but is this the right move for the team?

P.S. Now back to some football.
