The dysfunction of the Jets has seemingly gone public. After losing their last 3 games in a row and missing the playoffs, outsiders are starting the rip the Jets in several ways. Players appear to be under performing, selfish, and their coach is really fat (Rex). The big story the last day or so has been the ripping of Mark Sanchez, their QB. The New York Daily News has spoken to several teammates within the organization who seem to question Mark's work ethic. One of them said "We have to bring in another quarterback that will make [Sanchez] work at practice. He's lazy and content because he knows he's not going to be benched." What is worse than getting insulted by teammates in public is the fact that none of the teammates were revealed. All are anonymous.
Two interesting things about this story. The first is that teammates should never rip each other in public, especially anonymously. I get that it might be a motivational tool and doing it anonymously makes sure there isn't any direct fights in the locker room, but it seems to me that if you are going to insult someone and try to motivate them or whatever, you tell it to that person's face and the not the media. The second thing that gets brought up in this statement is wondering if any of this is true. Mark Sanchez has been in this league for three years and while he has certainly improved some over his time in the NFL, he hasn't really done anything that makes you think he can be an elite QB. He has had his moments but he doesn't seem to string along enough of them. He isn't consistently good.
If this work ethic is an actual problem then I have some advice for Rex Ryan. You say to him either directly or with him him close enough to hear "Man, that RG3 is pretty good." Make Sanchez think his replacement could be in the next draft and he will give you 110%.
P.S. I would've said Andrew Luck but the Colts already have put a stamp on him.
