Rangers Win the Delayed "Winter Classic"

The NHL has had a fairly recent tradition of playing on outdoor game every New Year's Day called the Winter Classic. This year the event was in Philadelphia but was on January 2nd. The reason for the delay? The NFL seemingly c**k blocked the NHL using NBC TV rights. So they had to play yesterday. Anyway, it was the battle of the New York Rangers vs. the Philadelphia Flyers in Citizens Bank Park. It was a close game but the Rangers were able to pull out a win scoring the last 3 goals of the game. They hold one to a lead at the end despite a last minute penalty shot and win it, 3-2. Sad to see the Flyers lose the Winter Classic at home but they had their chance to tie it with that penalty shot. Henry Lundqvist was having none of that, however.

A fine tradition somewhat carries on for the NHL. Let's keep it going next year. How about one in Canada, eh?
