Boycott the Draft?

Okay, this sounds like an interesting concept. There are reports that the NFLPA are actually trying to prevent prospects from attending the 2011 NFL Draft. 17 prospects have apparently been asked not to go to the draft. Of course this move by the NFLPA is a labor tactic to try and put pressure on the NFL. Roger Goodell responded basically saying it would be a shame for these young men not to be able to attend the Draft.

I don't know where to stand on this issue. Prospects in theory should be standing with their soon to be co-workers in solidarity and not attend the draft. Even if they do go, it's not like they will be signed or do anything with their new team anyway. But I also understand Goodell's point that this event has become a proud moment for the players that are invited. To hear your name called and to shake the commissioner's hand under the bright lights seems like a high moment in a player's career.

If possible, I would leave it up to the prospects. Should a prospect care about the labor rights of a union he will soon be apart of? Or should a prospect be able to enjoy his shining moment so many have had at the beginning of their careers? Let the prospects choose?
