Cinderella Butler Upsets Pitt, BYU Gets by the Zags, Wisconsin Beats K-State and More

Sorry about the absent coverage of the 2nd half of the 2nd round yesterday. Got a little sidetracked with a few things.

As for today, the 3rd round began and we have lost a #1 seed. It's Pittsburgh of the Southeast. They faced the runner up to the title last year, Butler, and were they surprised. Crazy finish with some foul calls at the end but Butler would beat Pitt, 71-70, with Matt Howard scoring the game winning point via free throw. Butler goes on to Sweet 16 while Pitt goes home. Who will Butler face? They will take on the Badgers as Wisconsin took out K-State, 70-65. Jacob Pullen tried for a tying 3 pointer but was blocked by Jordan Taylor.

As for the diminished BYU, they look pretty good. The Cougars beat Gonzaga, 89-67, thanks to 34 points from Jimmer Fredette. Fredette has keep the Cougars alive for another week. As to who they will face in the Sweet 16, it's #2 of the Southeast, Florida, who just beat UCLA, 73-65. A big obstacle for BYU which will truly test this team's strength. As for the other notable team from the MWC, San Diego State took on Temple and eventually beat them, 71-64, but needed two OT's to do so. They will face UConn next who just took down Cincinnati, 69-58.

One top seed is already eliminated. The other #1's will all play tomorrow.
