Okay, this one confused me a bit. Apparently the Fiesta Bowl President and CEO, John Junker, has been fired due to the fact he has used Fiesta Bowl money to fund local Arizona political campaigns. He then tried to reimburse the money to the employees of the bowl game and to also cover it up. Because of all of this, the BCS is actually asking for the Fiesta Bowl to defend itself as to why it should remain a BCS Bowl Game.
First I want to know how Bowl games can be non profit organizations? Is it because they work with the schools? Still sounds stupid to me. Also, who would replace the Fiesta Bowl if it is taken off the BCS Bowl list? Eyes at ESPN are already thinking the Cotton Bowl in Cowboys Stadium. Jerry Jones would love that kind of annually publicity and to also host host the BCS National Championship once every four years.
I think they should change it anyway. How is anyone supposed to take a BCS Bowl game called the Fiesta Bowl seriously? If this change is to occur, it will be interesting to see what happens to the Fiesta Bowl after this process.
P.S. As for a new bowl game that seems good, the Cotton Bowl in Cowboys Stadium does seem pretty perfect. I mean just look at the last Bowl game they hosted (BURN!!!).
