Jeter to Stay a Yankee, Gonzalez to the Red Sox, and Werth Goes to Washington?

Big weekend for off season baseball. First, Derek Jeter re-signs with the Yankees for 3 years and $51 Million. The most overpaid shortstop retains his title. It would have been weird if Jeter had gone to another team but it didn't seem like it was going to happen anyway. As for the Yankees sworn rivals, the Red Sox get Adrian Gonzalez from the San Diego Padres. This trade has seemingly been a rumor for over a year and it has finally happened. The only question mark is a long term deal in which neither side has agreed on yet. They still have a whole off season to work that out.

The last notable weekend deal was a surprise to all of baseball: Jayson Werth has signed a 7 year, $126 Million deal with the Washington Nationals? A move that seems to make no sense. The Nationals are not even close to being a playoff worthy team. My only guess is either trying to appease the fans now or trying to build on something for the future. Stephen Strasburg will be back sometime in the next year or so and Jayson Werth will be waiting for him. A questionable move at best.

The baseball off season is still fresh. Who will be the next big name dealt?
