The AFC West has had the same script for two years now: the Broncos take a early divisional lead then slump and let the Chargers take the Division title. In a weird way, it's set up for the same thing. The Broncos do seem a little weaker after trading Brandon Marshall away but still have Kyle Orton and Knowshon Moreno. The Chargers still look good but need the to have Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeil resigned and working out with the team. This leaves an opportunity for the other 3 teams to take the lead while San Diego has to deal with the holdouts. However, the Broncos may not be second best this year as the Raiders seemed to have regrouped with Jason Campbell as their new QB. Also the Chiefs and Matt Cassel may look better this year with new Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis.
So who will take this dramatic finishing division this year? The Chargers again. San Diego has had control of this division for 4 years now and will not let it go with Phillip Rivers in charge. The Raiders will likely be a close second for a chance at a Wild Card Spot, that is if Al Davis is not calling the plays. Th Chiefs could improve a bit but will likely fall short of a winning record again. The Broncos will make some noise early on as usual and then let everyone down in Denver.
P.S. The Hot Seat is calling for both Tom Cable and Norv Turner.
