The NFC South this year looks really exciting. The Superbowl Champs, the New Orleans Saints, look like they are able to make another good run with Drew Brees and his receiving core. The Falcons, meanwhile, look strong yet again and could go far if Matt Ryan doesn't get injured along the way. Then there's the Panthers who are questionable at best going into the season with Matt Moore who looked terrific at the end of the last year. An issue with the team may be confidence in Matt Moore when they acquired Jimmy Clausen in the NFL Draft. Though that was more of a lucky pick really. If Moore performs well, they are a playoff contender. Then there's the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are still in development mode with their main QB Josh Freeman. The offense around Freeman doesn't look good with Cadillac Williams being there HB and two rookies, Arrelious Benn and Mike Williams, as their two main WR's.
My NFC South Prediction: Saints will edge out the Falcons. This division has been a wild one in recent years but I think there will be some stability with the Saints repeating as Division Champs. Atlanta could get in as a Wild Card team but has some stiff competition from the NFC East and North. The Panthers and the Bucs will likely be developing players this season. I would be watching Carolina and their QB situation. If the season goes downhill early, they may switch to Jimmy Clausen.
While the Saints seem poised to take the NFC South again, I wouldn't chose them as Superbowl Repeats. It's hard to repeat as champs in any sport and their defense made the right plays at the right time so much last year it just seems unlikely that this lightning will strike twice. My Superbowl pick is... uh? Timmy's stuck in the well? Got to go.
