College Football starts today after a grueling off season that involved money, teams declaring conference moves, players talking to agents, and even a school giving back a Heisman trophy. We now look forward to another illegitimate season that will no doubt be worthless if you really think about it. Winning the National Championship is only about two things: having a good regular season record and being in a top conference. Sounds like Boise State is already out. Essentially it comes down to popularity as the top two teams in country are decided by voting and not a playoff system like most sports. The NCAA, the schools, and the BCS SHOULD be ashamed of themselves but they are too busy diving into pools of money earned by college athletes.
How will the season go? There will be upsets, blowouts, great performances, a team outside one of the BCS Conferences that steps up, and, at the end, controversy about how the BCS system is flawed. Just like every year. As for a National Title Contender, I DON"T CARE!!! Ask me when we have a playoff system.
