Where's My Pitchfork?

The 49ers played their first game against Seattle in Qwest Field. This game also featured Pete Carroll's return to the NFL as head coach of the Seahawks. This seemed like a year that the 49ers could get into the playoffs as NFC West champions. So much for that. The 49ers looked awful in this game. The Offense was the key weakness as they couldn't deliver a TD in the moments they were in the red zone and they couldn't get back to the red zone in the 2nd half. The Seahawks defense shut down the running game and walk over the offensive line leaving Alex Smith vulnerable. Smith actually looked well in the beginning but later when the 49ers were forced to go to the passing game, he lost his composure and couldn't get the 49ers back in it. Seahawks destroy the Niners, 31-6.

Smith finished the day 26/45 with 225 passing yards and 2 INTs. Alex Smith proves to be a disappointment yet again. The Seahawks knew that Smith was questionable and shut down the running game to force him to try and win it through the air which he could not do. Alex is no Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. He cannot take a team and carry them to a victory by himself. He needs the run to be effective if he is to be successful. Today it was not. Yes, it might be early to throw in the towel but their next opponent is the New Orleans Saints who are better than the Seahawks.

As for the Seahawks and Pete Carroll, F U!!! A message asked to be relayed from USC.
