Boise State Survives Against Virginia Tech

Boise State has done some amazing things over the last few years that have turned the heads of many college football analysts. Still it hasn't been enough to get them into a BCS Title Game but the Broncos are hoping that this season leads to that opportunity. With so many senior starters returning, the Broncos began their National Title Campaign against the Virgina Tech Hokies. This time, however, they traveled to Washington D.C. and played against Virginia Tech at FedEx Field. What a way to kick off week one.

The Broncos took an early lead in the first quarter and looked to be too much for the Hokies. Virginia Tech started out weak with some key mistakes but managed to regroup. Over time, they fought back and managed to take the lead in the 3rd Quarter. Boise State hung in there though and down 30-26 had one last drive to give with about 2 minutes left and no time outs. They drove down field with their star QB, Kellen Moore, leading the way. Thanks to some clutch passes and a penalty against Virginia Tech, the Broncos were in striking distance and Moore threw a TD pass to Austin Pettis to take the lead 33-30 with 1:09 left in regulation. The Broncos Defense then managed to contain Tyrod Taylor for a turnover on downs that ended the game.

The Boise State Broncos stay in the Title discussion and seem to have a easy road to ahead of them. Ironically, that is the main thorn in their side. Despite this win, they will never impress voters while they play in the WAC Conference.
