The NFC North was fun to watch last year with Brett Favre going against the Packers twice and beating them both times. The Vikings were dominate in the North last year with Green Bay taking a Wild Card spot. Both teams this year seem reloaded for a new NFL season. The other two teams in the North might as well be irrelevant. The Bears QB woes with Jay Cutler seem to have not affected their judgement of how to run the team as they have hired the pass happy Offensive Coordinator, Mike Martz. Cutler, however, still has no one exceptional to throw to. Meanwhile, the Lions enter another year of development and analysis to see what else needs improving for the next off season. The addition of Ndamukong Suh will certainly help the defense and the offense looks alright with Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson. The Lions do seem poised to make some surprising upsets this year and, if things go right, could get in the playoff hunt next year.
But we are talking about 2010. So who will conquer the North this season? While it's likely that both teams will get into the playoffs anyway, I choose the Packers to win the division, not the Vikings. The Packers putting off season effort on that vulnerable line will help this team very much and may get them further into the Playoffs. Aaron Rodgers may also take this team further as he seems to be getting better with a QB Rating of 103.2 last year. The Vikings are still a good team and it wouldn't surprise anyone if they won the division again but it just seems unlikely that Brett Favre will have another season like 2009. Players have to drop off in production eventually. Right?
P.S. Unless Brett Favre is really Dorian Gray. Think about it. He still as giddy as a school boy and he is clearly ruining his image.
