The Sweet 16 began yesterday and another number one team bites the dust. Number one of the West, Syracuse, lost to #5 Butler 63-59. A combination of turnovers and good play of Butler caused this upset. Meanwhile the other game in the West had #2 Kansas State beating #6 Xavier 101-96 in double OT. Xavier fought hard in this won pushing it to 2 OT's but just couldn't get ahead to win. Kansas State will play Butler for the West's spot in the Final Four.
Meanwhile in the East, #12 Cornell was finally stopped by #1 Kentucky, 62-45. The nerds were bullied for the first half and couldn't make a comeback in the second. It was a nice run but at least now they can study for Midterms. The East also had #2 West Virginia beating #11 Washington, 69-56. The Mountaineers took over the second half and advance to face Kentucky in the Elite 8.
Don't miss today's action as the Midwest and South Conferences will be played. Can #1 Duke of the South stay alive against #4 Purdue and can #9 Northern Iowa continue their Cinderella run through the Midwest. Well watch it and find out. I'm no fortune teller.
